You make things do what they are tasked with simply because you are familiar with the physics of the items being manipulated.

The practical application of mathematics, physics, and material science to solve an abstract problem is not at all comparable to making computers communicate through a network. Sorry.

You're awefully cocky. I'd say you were very similar to a pastry chef.

FYI, I hold pastry chefs in high regard. I take it that you do not.

Actually the point of collecting other data than grades and test scores is to find out about individual students' situations. Almost all decent colleges do this. This is the point.

Yes they do, but its more along the lines of community service, activity in school programs, and leadership expirence. I've never seen "My parents are drug addicts? or There were gangs at my highschool?" on a college resume. Only GPA, test scores, and personal accomplishments.

Most selective colleges have you write entrance essays and sometimes conduct personal interviews.

There is no such things as "positive discrimination", only discrimination.

Discrimination isn't an inherently bad word. All it means is distinguishing between two different things.

Because I can't see tafari's comments, he made anti-gay slurs and racist remarks so I added him to my ignore list.

What he fails to grasp, is what he does is the same as what I do. I Design networks, the very systems he has to use to do his job. I design backbones, cloud networks, and the kind of networking that he wouldn't understand.
becides dude, your arguing with a 15yo who is claiming to be some rocket scientist...Really, you think he is what he claims? LOL

Your comment was in line witht he general lack of understanding that it takes more than "a few computers" to put together and keep running a full network. As I said I know people with doctorates that could not do what I do.
*edit* its the general missconseption that "IT" people just repair computers. Try having to figure out the BTU output of a given rack in a raised floor server room, then compensate for that with a heavier stand alone A/C system while at the same time having to balance the power needs of said rack. Then figure in the airflow across the servers/san system in that rack, and calculate out how many U of space you neet to give up for proper flow. That is just a example of what I have to do before things just "bolt in" to the rack, let alone configuration, programing, and going live with a new network.

When was the last time you used more than a formula to figure any of that? I'd be surprised if you didn't have a program that calculates it all for you.

You're only agreeing with my argument. You know more than people with a doctorate. I was saying you don't need a doctorate to know what people like you know. So... what's your point, exactly?

I know plenty of people who have worked in IT. Tell me, through your explanation there, does that require a higher education?
