hydrotesting question

do local shops do hydro tests? or does the tank have to be shipped back to the company who manufactures it?

While they may not do the actual test, most shops will take in the bottle and send it to their local hydro facility. Just ask THEM and see what they have to say.

Agreed with rcontrera. I know that locally, there are a few places that actually do the hydro test, and a vast majority of the scuba shops, paintball stores, and even fire departments, have their hydrotests done with them.

Easiest answer is either check with your local shops to see what they say, or to find a user on here, sartek, as he has a list of places that actually do hydrotests in his signature. Of course, I have no idea if it has been updated regularly or not.

Sartek hasn't been active since September.
If you check the ultimate sticky there is a list to the DOT website for companies that do hydro testing grouped by state. You just need to look for one that says 'Hydrostatic' testing in the appropriate column.
Please keep in mind though that many of these places have no experience taking a paintball regulator off. If you can do it yourself or have your field/shop do it, have them do it. There are more then a few people that experience a testing facility chewing up the reg with a wrench or snapping it off because they used the improper tools to remove it.

If you want piece of mind Crossfire offers a hydro testing service with a warranty on the cylinder. If they damage the cylinder and can't repair the threads during removal they'll replace your cylinder with one of theirs with the same hydro date or newer to compensate. That's a pretty good warranty and piece of mind.
