World Cup Webcast: some thoughts

First, I just want to say thanks to NPPL for making the webcast happen for world cup!
People are obviously going to hate on it, but I honestly thought it was a decent stream. Friday was a bit rough, but it improved. I didn't get to watch on Saturday, but I streamed Sunday all day long with zero issues! Definitely a step in the right direction.

While watching it I was thinking about the cast and ways to improve it for the future.
One thing that I thought was fairly obvious would be to have other scores from around the event (Pro, D1, D2, etc.) scrolling at the bottom or top of the screen. Similar to how SportsCenter will do it with various sports/games.
Just a way to keep on top of the various matches going on.

I also thought it would be neat to see a higher angled camera view. Sort of how the NFL does it. Maybe 2 cameras, one on each side of the field to try and capture more than just one end of the field. Heck, it could even be a stationary camera, so long as it has the entire field length in view.

Just some random thoughts I had to improve the webcast.
Regardless, thanks for the feed! It was enjoyable to watch.

This wasn't the world cup webcast FYI and I know alot of these suggestions sound great but putting them into practice is difficult and expensive.

My bad with the world cup slip...you guys knew what i meant!

I realize these are probably outlandish requests, but the hope is that they hear these criticisms, not just mine, and find a way to do something about them in a way that makes sense for them both technically and economically.

I thought that the camera views were for the most part better than PSP's, and I agree that a little bit higher angle would be nice. The commentary could use a little bit of work, but for the most part, it was a great start. I don't know what was causing the streaming issues on Friday, but I don't think it was their fault.

Yeah, except for the whole 360 P thing. Where is the 720/1080 P at?

my impressions, they did a great job considering it was the first one this year, if i'm wrong please forgive me. Davey and Danny were fantastic and had extremely little notice they were doing it at all, hell i thouught i was going have to do it until the day i got there, as you can imagine i was relieved they were going to handle it. I would expect it to be better each and every event in the future. I love all your suggestions and i don't think anything is not a solveable problem. I was kept up to date on any problems or issues every single day through out the event by people how kept me in the loop and i thank each and every one of those people, you know who you are. I did my best to relay those comments to the webcast booth and they made things better each time. Thanks to everyone involved, i love this game and i love all the people in it. Good luck with the next one in HB and to all the NPPL Teams.

Sorry, Youtube live defaults to 360p even if the broadcast is 1080. Not sure why YT does this, but it is actually a very advanced content delivery network which constantly improves.
