Remodel 05 Ego

Picked up this 05 ego for fairly cheap owner said it needed a new noid.
Little did i know these were hard to find now adays.

So What I would like to do is put an 07+ noid and board inside.

A.) Is is possible
B.) Is it worth the trouble.

To be honest, if you have to ask, then it's not worth the trouble. The board wouldn't be too much of a pain, but the noid is another thing altogether.

you can either try it, or look around for a parting. 05/06 are getting parted more frequently now adays. just do a couple of searches for noids, and ego's and see what comes up. Airsolder and paintballshowcase are out of noids. you could also look at either a common noid, like an HEA, or a Mac noids and do up a custom gun. mught be tougher, but the end could be more rewarding.

We'll you will be in the same boat with the 07 mood.. very hard to find, or very expensive.

You can use this noid http://www.airsoldier.com/mm5/mercha...Code=SOLENOIDS, just need to make space on the frame, I used one I had laying around on an Ego 06 and worked great

Not that one... the porting is incorrect on that one. You need the manifold mount one.. not the direct mount one

Wish I knew about this 2 weeks ago. Anyway, i have an ego 07 and just had an 05 and 06'and it does look like the 07 noid would work but you would have to remove a little metal out of the body.

You can use a MAC 43 solenoid valve if you are willing to use fittings and tubing instead of the original manifold - it will fit in the frame with no modification and is dirt cheap compared to the other options (do a search on ebay for MAC 43 - in the paintball category - the seller is user Deathwish_DW on here). I've done it to both an 05 Ego and an Etek and it works well.

PE claims that the current draw will lower the lifespan of the board due to heat, but unless you play in extreme heat and fire nonstop ramping all day, it will most likely be fine - but be aware of the possibility regardless.

Tight fit, but the eye wires will fit in with it as well.

Maybe swap the 07 board in and you don't have to worry about the board

They are pretty power hungry solenoids - not all boards will power one properly. But the Ego and Etek boards have no problem with it.

Yoda - what is the size of that tubing? I assume I cannot use the cocker sized tubing right?

Depends on the size of the barbs that you use. That is the same tubing that I have on my cocker using stock pneumatics, so it is probably the same for most.

That is 1/8" OD polyurethane though. I typically use it with 1/16" barbs and it fits nicely.
