The only thing I have against Spyders is that they have a hard time keeping up with a player when the player's skill increases. I feel that a player should start with a marker that is a bit higher end. If your skills increase, the marker is ready to accommodate you. If you decide to get out of paintball, a higher end marker will have a much higher resale value than a Spyder as well.

That's definitely true, but they are neat little guns. but they just cannot compare to things over 1000$ more than them. Or even a few hundred bucks more,

smart cars cost more than civics. if anything spyders are civics based off price and all the custom things you can do with them. great guns, they will always have a welcome spot in the world of paintball.

There is nothing wrong with them at all. I don't like how they use spyder threads but hats about it. That and I'm a big high end guy.

the barrels suck because no one wants a spyder barrel

they mince paint like a chef

they are loud, not air efficient

and not consistent

Ummm, Egos are notoriously loud, yet everyone loves them.

As for efficiency, blowback markers (Spyders, Pirahna, Viewloader, JT, Mongoose, etc) are some of the most efficient ever made.

Just sayin

Kind of a necro but whatever.

My first gun was a spyder. This was back in 96 so your options were basically spyder, mag, cocker, or rental Tippmann. It was loud and kicky but basically all guns were then. Efficiency didn't matter cause we all used C02. It shot paint, that was about as good as it got for entry level back then. The biggest problem with my gun was that it chopped like a blender, and every time I put in a new bolt or mod it would get worse.

Back in 96 there was nothing wrong with a spyder. Nowadays, however, the spyder is a vintage biplane in the era of F-16s. When you can pick up a gun like an eXTCy or Rail for $100 more, or even an enmey for the same amount or slightly less, buying a spyder is just silly.
