Are you sure its not the gun that's inconsistent?

Do you have any other markers that you can use? Perhaps a buddy has a marker that you can have him bring over and test how it reads with his marker?

Here's how to get your Virtue Clock to read EXREMELY consistent:

BUY BETTER PAINT.

My local field uses a virtue clock to crono us and they say to turn in 10 fps down because it was off by 10 fps

Personally I have seen the virtue clock give readings that were very inconsistent with other chronos at the field.

They use them at Quickshot a lot and it always says I am shooting at 290-295 yet the other chornos all say 275-280 - I have to kinda agree that it says things are higher than they are.

As long as everyone is chronoing with the same chrono it shouldn't matter. I just wouldn't want some people being chronoed with 1 chrono and others with another brand of chrono.

I heard cell phones can interfere with readings, not so sure if its true but its worth a try.

Really, 290-300 isn't bad by any means. I know it wasn't uncommon for any Axe or Mini that I've seen to be 268-290.

We thought we had that issue too, but when the Radarchrons at the field were showing 10 fps under the Virtue, miscellaneous other chronos that a couple teams had agreed with the Virtue clocks.

That's just personal experience though and ONE case.

its probably the gun. clean and relube the regulators and itll likely get more consistent. also note that if this is a string of paint your velocity will likely fluctuate a lot. good tank and hpr regulators with fast recharge rates are critical to consistent strings of paint.

all things considered most guns with stock or decent tuning shoot +/- 10fps.. a good setup and tune will be better.

also remember that underboring or overboring will give more consistency. bore matching will give the worst consistency.

I've seen that the clock will read a considerably different fps than the standard 'yellow' chrono or the stationary red field chrono.
