Hah, I know the feeling.

After we had done EVERYTHING in my car, we had it all together. Had it running. Pulled it apart to fix a leak and had it back on. Tried to start the car and it would barely start. We were so confused and couldn't figure it out and we were 100% positive the MAF was in.

We had it on the wrong way.

Can you imagine what that sensor was thinking?

MAFs just rely on the air going past the wires, not really any particular direction needed afaik

Well we had the pipe on the wrong way and it wouldn't crank. Pulling it out and turning it around fixed it.

Most cars will start even with a broken/unplugged MAF. Methinks there was some funky business going on there, or your MAF is designed VERY differently from any I've seen.

I've done it.

I don't know why anything backwards would stop the MAF from working though.. Maybe swaying the data a bit, I'm not sure why it'd change enough where it wouldn't run at all.

I'm sorry, it wouldn't stay cranked and was running like ****. Was very obviously running with problems.

Pulling that pipe off and turning it around fixed it entirely.
