I just like how he says he didn't spend foolishly, invested money back into the business, etc. Yes, he says he was one of the ones who did it right. Yet he has to hault production of his house? Pretty sure if you run a business with 7000 exmployees for 40 years and manage your money properly and buy any reasonable house you should easily be able to afford it. Pretty sure if you're ****ing enormous house is being foreclosed on that means you are one of the same people you're *****ing about. Maybe you would not have to lay people off if you didn't have to take so much money out of the business to pay for the construction loan on your mansion? Then it says he is pleased with the deal he negotiated with the bank to not pay any interest. So you're saying you're doing the same thing you're complaining about other people doing.

Its great that you have a company and employ people, but make sure your own house is in order before you point fingers and look like a hypocritical *******. And don't threaten your employees to vote your way. If you feel so strongly about it, why not try educating them in a positive light?

Also, when I was working at a restaurant, the gross profit margin was negative and my boss came in and told me he had to pay 5 grand in income tax even though the restaurant didn't profit that year. Taxes should be revised for sure for small businesses.

Possibly due to the way they accounted for their profits. My dad had to pay a **** ton of taxes even though he never actually got the supposed income. The tax code is very ****ed up sometimes. Though for the gross profit margin to be negative is very bad. Perhaps you meant net profits?

Taxes are fun. After tax season is when people realize they don't know as much as they think.

Nope, he had to use his savings from the good years to pay for the taxes, it was mostly due to things that couldn't be deducted technically with the IRS. Not many people want to go out to fine dining during a recession.

But the negative gross profit margin means you're selling **** for less than you pay for it. Is the restaurant still in business? Negative GP Margin is like a death spiral for a business. Need to raise prices. Does not matter if less people buy it, because it doesn't matter how many people buy if you're selling at a loss.

It was mostly due to having to buy/fix necessary equipment, restaurant is still afloat though.

That stuff does not go into gross profit margin. I think we're taking about net profits. Gross profit is simply sales minus cost of goods sold. To have a negative Gross profit your sales have to be less than cost of goods sold, which means you're selling stuff for less than you paid for it. Obviously a good way to go out of business in a hurry. Net profits take into account all the other expenses with running a business such as rent and equipment. I would guess the situation in question is equipment related, that is generally the way you have accounting losses and taxable income at the same time. You have to have some type of expense or writeoff that the IRS does not allow.
