Nothing, in fact I like mine for what it is. I wouldn't describe it as a particularly high quality gun and it is just a plinker though.

If you wouldn't trade a Hi Point Carbine for a Marlin 336C, you're crazy.

May have to get back into shooting the shotgun more with the ammo shortages and high prices. Now this will will give me an excuse to pick up an O/U.

I very, very rarely shoot either of my shotguns. One probably has less than 10 rounds through it.

Shotguns is all I used to shoot.

I have a .410 single shot, 20 gauge pump, and a 12 gauge pump. I need an auto or O/U to add to the family.

Mine are both 12 gauge pumps. One is an Ithaca that I take hunting the other is a Maverick that I just bought on a whim one day because it was on sale. Should pick up an 18" barrel for it since it is my "under the bed" gun. Don't really need a 28" for that.

I have a C9 that I use for the range and a truck gun, I love it. And yes I would definitely trade a hi point for the marlin lol

I think Maverick 88s are going for around 180ish at Academy. The two that I've used have been nice. I wouldn't mind having one with the 18-20" barrel for HD.

I have an 88. Bought it for $170, very rarely shot it but it doesn't seem like a bad shotgun. Has more in common with a 500 than I would've though too. Since it has seen very little use you should take this with a grain of salt but I have little doubt it will stand up to anything the average owner will throw at it.

Just ordered a Vortex Viper HS 2.5-10x44 along with a Burris PEPR. My upper is finished and I'm picking that up next week.

What would you guys recommend for a sub $100 scope for a .30-06 for hunting? Shots will rarely be over 100 yards.

I'd say bump it up $50, and get yourself an older Leupold. I use a Vari-X IIc on my .308, and it has worked well for every shot I've taken. It's a 3-9x40, and while it's great for low-light shooting, the magnification leaves something to be desired. 100 yards is great, but even at 200 or 300 while shooting at a bowling pin, I feel that some more magnification would be nice. What I'm getting at is that if you think that you'll ever be shooting at a longer distance, something like a 4-12 might be better for you to look at. In that price range, Mueller would be another good choice.

Go too cheap, and you're asking for inconsistent adjustments, and loss of zero while shooting and general banging around while hunting. Buy used to save money on a nice scope.

Look into a Vortex Diamondback. I have a 4-12x40 on my AR15 and it has been solid. I think they retail for around 190 new so a used one could be found for probably 150 or so. Maybe less.

You might check out a Leupold Rifleman as well. I bought one from Bass Pro(who's prices are generally on the high side) for 175 a year and a half ago. I didn't use it hardly at all so I can't really comment as to how well the scope is but it should be decent.
