I read review on it and seems pretty solid, especially for a first revolver. I paid $350 for it at gander mountain so I feel like it was a decent deal.

Picked up some 158 grain federal JSP ammo at Walmart today and hopefully I can take it out to the range this weekend. Anyone know any good cheap plinking ammo I can get online?

for 350-400 you could have got a solid smith and wesson 28

Saw a box of monarch and American Eagle today that had doubled from this summer when I bought the same stuff. Monarch was about 9/10 and the AE was 12.

I'm glad I reload.

Not very. The initial investment is kind of steep but the process itself is not difficult. Loading straight walled pistols cartridges is pretty easy. Loading good quality rifle rounds can be tedious and it requires additional equipment.

what calibers do you plan on reloading?
the biggest investment is the cost of the press.
how many rounds you plan to reload and how much you want to spend will determine what kind of press to get(single stage/progressive/auto indexing)
if you want to pay once and do it right and have a great auto indexing progressive one
http://www.dillonprecision.com/conte...d/1/Super_1050

msrp is 1800ish, can be found for less online.
if you only plan on reloading a bit not a massive amount(again depends on how much you shoot) you can always get a good progressive without the auto feeds/index for about 1000+ less.

so. answer these.
im still trying to figure out what press i want to get so i can start so i have recently gone through a lot of the same thoughts.
what calibers do you want to reload?
how many rounds do you shoot per month?
how much time do you want to dedicate to reloading?
how much do you want to spend on a press?

Funny how nobody has mentioned a good bench, which is the foundation of your whole entire operation. If you don't have a good solid, stirdy bench, you aren't loading ammo... not easily anyways.

My plywood apartment bench works just fine.

Here is my setup, not much has changed except the lee press was sold off several years ago, more components, more die boxes, and a bunch of ammo boxes sitting all over the place right now.

When I move I'm going to build a sturdier bench, and make it big enough to add a dillon XL650. Need a lot of room for a person like me who has so much crap...

EDIT: What thickness is that piece of plywood? I'm wanting a solid top like that on the next bench I build... I know a guy who used a solid oak door and cut it up to his liking but that is just overkill, although it's pretty roomy and spaceous.

Got some upgrades for the buckmark. HiViz front sight
Macfadden magazine loader. ****s cheaper than the 27$ mags.

and finally got the Howard Leight electronic ear protectors after eye balling them for so long. They've been fluctuating in price around 45. They are 41 bucks now.

It's for the desktop under the bench that is no longer there... for anyone to use. That was back before you couldn't easily bypass needing a password for Ubuntu.

I bought mine for 60 dollars used.

The latest and greatest press is not a necessity for reloading.

And I never said it was, but without a good, solid, sturdy bench, you're wasting your time. Size doesn't matter on the bench either, as long as it's solid and doesn't move when sizing at least your average rifle brass like 30-06 etc...

EDIT: As far as presses go, I'm happy with my Rockchucker, and I will have it for many years to come. The only press I can see myself buying to replace it would be the forster co-ax, but I doubt that would happen.

Well me being the average schlub as far as money and less so on ar accesories I was hoping someone can recommend some affordable options.

Also what do I need to purchase, some kind of top mount so he can look thru the iron sight and/or use the red dot...

I mainly need links or advice on some rear iron sights, some kind of mount and a red dot. And please remember I don't have alot of money. Any help is greatly appreciated..thanks
Primary Arms offers inexpensive red dots and mounts for fair prices. Depending on the mount you get, he will be able to use the irons through the red dot... it will just vary in height.
This image should give you a fairly good idea.

And ignore memorex.
