can a regulator be replaced on a tank?

I have a 45/4500 tank with a worn regulator. The tank is in hydro till 3/14 but if I screw in the tank too far into my mini, it leaks.

If I turn it a quarter way back, it doesn't leak.

Anyplace offer tank repair OR is this something I can do at home?

What is a typical repair cost?

The tank is carbon fiber. Don't know if that matters.

Which manufacturer's bottle and regulator do you have? Warranty work will depend on which companies bottle you purchased.

You might want to consider getting the Relay for the mini. Putting an on/off on your mini will be much easier on your bonnet threads.

Can't believe the mini doesn't come stock with an on/off

BEST upgrade ever for the mini in my honest opinion.

Your reg may need serviced, but this problem is unrelated. +1 on a new ASA.

I've seen this same thing happen on my friend's V3 mini. He went to take the bottle off, and it actually stripped the threads between the actual regulator, and the bonnet. Mini ASA is HORRIBLE.

I'd invest in an on/off, or empty the bottle before taking it off moving forward.

It's a Crossfire 45/4500

I bought it off a fellow member. It doesn't leak unless I fully turn it so I'm thinking its the regulator since it shows wear.

My aluminum Empire 45/4500 tank doesn't leak.

The answer to your question is yes, you can put an external reg on a tank.

I would go this route due to where the nick is on the CF tank reg...it isn't the reg. on the mini. I would try this for your mini reg. doesn't leak with your metal tank at all.

Is the thread loctited on to the bottle? If it is you will need to send it to someone who is an air smith and can take regs off of air tanks, most companies can do this so no need to worry if you plan on getting a new reg.

If you have the stealth reg and the threads are worn contact Crossfire directly. You may be able to just get the threaded section/bonnet from them; which would be the cheapest alternative then just getting a whole new reg.
