If you aren't riding like a douche nozzle it shouldn't be an issue in the first place.

im rarely doing more than 80 on the interstate. bike, car, whatever. Most 600s top out between 150-160mph, depending on gearing.
that's ridiculous.
hey look at this guy, seems to keep up with the liter bikes just fine...on an sv650

there are a couple of fun tracks in florida, you should check them out!

Youd think after 10 years of riding you'd be over that, no?

nothing wrong with a harley, although i would look at used sporty's, especially if you are thinking 883. go with a 2004-2006, prolly the best years. rubber mount engine, no EFI. i picked up my 04 1200 for $5000. and it wasn't even broken in, less than 2k on the clock.
my insurance is only about $350 a year with no riding experience. full coverage, with 10% off for the MSF course. got a buddy thats about to buy a bike, he's 27, and for sport bikes, naked or otherwise, he's looking at $1200 and up, depending on model. for a harley, he's around $400-$500. insurance companies hate sport bikes.
if you guys could see some of the work thats being done for sportsters, and what's possible with them... some of the work being done by chopcult members is phenomenal.

Never heard of Loudon. I knew of NJMP. But figured that's the only one around, other then going all the way to VIR. And just one track wouldn't hold my attention very long.
But now with NJMP, Loudon (still gotta check it out), NYST and rarely Monticello, there's a decent selection.
