To slow in general since 75% of the people we ride with ride 1000's its hard to keep up on a 600. Not in the twisties though.

Once again. Read my original post.
I have no want for what the majority does and yes I dislike the sound of most sport bikes so why in the **** would I chose one I can't stand to ride for the sound.

being different for the sake of being different doesnt make you different.
That's like not liking an artist or song JUST because they are popular and you want to not be apart of the crowd.
I get it, I understand the whole rebel attitude, but that's not it...

Here's a crazy thought. Shop around. Sit on and ride a several bikes. Read some reviews. Do some research. Find out which bike fits your budget, needs, and wants the best. Then buy THAT bike. Even if it's the most popular bike on the planet. But you won't be buying it because it's popular. You'll be buying it because it's the bike that fits you best.
And if you really want to be original. Try not giving a **** what anybody else thinks.

The problem wasn't the bike. It was the rider.

Get the bike that you like best, regardless of it being 1 of 10, or 1 of 1,000,000. Then make it your own. You don't have to leave a bike stock.

hey look, everyone agrees with me! maybe come back later when you're ready to handle a responsibility like a bike.
speaking of being responsible...what's gonna happen if i slack and let my valves get real out of whack? worst case scenario and likely scenarios please! my bike is starting a bit harder lately and i've been getting more lean backfires than usual, so i'm guessing it's time to dig in.

Ride some other bikes before you buy a harley. PLEASE
eh, i understand not wanting to have what everybody else has. nothing wrong with that. nothing wrong with having a cool sounding bike either.
Buells are great bikes as long as you don't mind going to harley for parts

The color.
Finance with a credit union, not HD. You'll get a much better rate. Certified used and new car loans were like 2.7% at my CU.

Yeah, nothing wrong with not wanting to be like everyone else. But that shouldn't be your sole reason for choosing a bike. If you narrow it down to a couple and you like them both about equally and choose the one that's less common, I get that. I do not get making that the primary reason for your choice.

Insurance is my big turn off from other bikes, i was originally looking at a sport bike of some sort, but when insurance was tallied there was a 3k difference from the sportster to say even a used sv.
Ill stick to 1200 a year instead of 4300.
Also, financing through my creidt union on a new motorcycle is 7.0% for 37-72 months.

wouldn't own an h-d no matter how cheap they are to insure. did you look at any naked models? (including the naked sv...)

Im not sure if you ever tried keeping up with a 1000 on the interstate with a 600 but it proves to be difficult at times.

How many points do you have on your license and are you under 25? I dont see why its so high, I have a 06 Gsxr 1000 and full coverage is only 2200 for me.

Now you're just making my point for me. No, I haven't. And neither should anyone who's been riding for 6 months. Most people have no business on a liter bike. Hell, most people don't possess the riding skills to really handle a 600 well.

i've been riding for 10 years. I'm doing just fine. I don't ride with new riders, they just cause problems, especially in big groups.

Sorry, thought we were talking about your friend who outgrew his bike after 6 months.

Ah... well that makes more sense then.
But I still believe that most people who think their 650 or 600 isn't fast enough is because they spend most of their riding time just going fast in a straight line... which any monkey can do. Most people will never really out ride their 600 or even 650 sport bikes.
