SL 68 II barrels

I bought an sl68 and it performed ok, but the accuracy wasnt ideal. Would the J&J 12" or 14" be better. I am looking for maximum accuracy.

Length wont do much difference. Paint to bore match will. I will go out on small limb and assume that the stock barrel is probably HUGE so getting a new barrel with a smaller bore will probably help a bit.

The stock barrel is like .688 or .689. I am lucky that my field paint doesn't roll out on me. I use RPS Premium.

I have read that porting at the end of the barrel reduces turbulence, increasing accuracy. I didnt know if the J&J barrels made an improvement. The stock barrel has no porting.

Don't qoute me on this, but most stock barrels suck for paint match. A J&J makes a marker quieter for sure. I would choose 14 inch just because I like that length but if you like very compact 12 inch won`t kill your accuracy. If your on a budget I would say the J&J is the best price to performance I have found. If the stock barrel has no porting then the J&J would make a big difference in the amount of crack (talking about a noise) that comes out of your gun. I have mounted a J&J on every tippmann form a 98c to a X7 phenom and I find it makes the marker quieter everytime.

The J&J is a nice barrel, I've owned a few on SL's over the years, but I have to say that the best thing to do with these is have a barrel made. I actually had a set of DYE backs cut down to fit. Obviously this isn't a realistic option for everyone, so using tape or nail polish detents are a good thing to try if you're having roll-outs.

Just because I haven't posted it in a long time:

I love my PPS 685 brass barrel w/ widgets. A bit heavy, but no rollouts and nice and accurate.

It's a Shocktech shoe, but it's custom-fit.

You guys are making me wonder about my SL-68 barrel. I haven't had any rollout problems, but it may not be the stock barrel. It looks just like a stock barrel but longer. ( I have two barrels ) Maybe our field paint just happens to fit it OK. I'll try both barrels and report back.

There were 14 inch "sniper" barrels available from Tipmann, though I'm not sure I ever saw one in person.

The cut is very close to 1.5 inches, with an overall length near 2.5 inches. I made sure to start cutting just after the shoulder begins.
