Here's something in their practice facility...I thought it was an interesting concept.

It kind of makes sense though, because Oregon doesn't really have any longstanding traditions (not counting track and cross country, where they have 18 national champs). So if you don't have any old traditions.... You can make new ones, and the new ones are being really fast, having cool Nike uniforms, and routinely making risky play calls. That's their tradition of the past four years.... And they're the only unchanged coaching staff in all of NCAA football in these four years. I'm probably thinking entirely too much into this, but maybe they're making a tradition out of not having normal traditions.... Like Bruce Lee and Jeet Kun Do, which is the style of no style.

Being in the military, traditions we still have are literally hundreds of years old.... And some of those traditions do nothing for us.... They become a scapegoat for stupid stuff, with "we've always done it that way". I'm not saying college football programs are anything like that, but the idea of it is something I can associate with.

....and then Oregon will lose chip Kelly, and the ducks will go to complete ****. :sad face:
Another cool sign in their facility is a picture of Matthews trying to tackle Cam and the sign says "leading the nation in effort". Kind of a weird thing to celebrate.

Yeah, on the play where the ball is popped out of cam's arms and results in a turnover. In the picture, the ball is already in the air.

....probably not the picture/caption combo I would've used, but whatevs.

Tradition also has a habit of beating you in big bowl games. You're 3-6 in major bowl games you've made all time. 1-2 in the last decade.

Plus your jerseys look bad and you should feel bad.

Subjective statement is subjective.

I personally like that they debut new **** almost every game and I've only disliked a few of them. Was there anyone that didn't like those Darth Vader chrome helmets?

You'd be surprised at how many people like shiny things in lower income communities.

Isn't Darth Vader Chrome an oxymoron?

Darth Vader = Black
Chrome = Silver and shiny

I like a lot of Oregon's unis. But I hate a bunch of them too. If I were a fan of a school with little tradition then I'd enjoy the new looks. But I'd never want to see Bama make any major changes to their unis. I enjoyed the houndstooth collars a few years ago. But that was just a trip change. The jersey was till the same.

Yes, running the football isn't "real", I too would rather watch teams sling it all around the field and do nothing but pass.

Genius!

They do it every game. Your local news guy should do his research before making an *** of himself.

Here's the houndstooth collar on Bama's Jersey. They did these for one game back during Shula's time. It was a Nike promotion to kick off their houndstooth line of Bama gear.

I'm a fan of a more traditional look. If a school wants to move some colors around, that's fine, but chrome, unusual patterns, etc. I don't like.

For example, ND last night. I don't mind if they just changed the helmet to that new kind of gold they were using, but the 1/3 blue with the fighting leprechaun ruined it, IMO.

I think the "Darth Vader" name came from the promo teaser picture that they released before they debuted them. It looked like a shiny black in the picture.

Yeah. I saw a bunch of pictures where it looked black. But that was just reflection from being in a dark room. Outside in day light, that think is shiny. I like the one that has chrome looking wings but the rest of the helmet is that carbon fiber look.
