2 piece vs one piece barrels

IS there something about a 2 piece barrel that makes it better than a one piece?

You can change the backs in a 2-piece to match the bore to the paint you're shooting.

No. There the same, just with a 2 piece you can bore match.

Yup, 2 piece gives you the advantage of bore-matching paint

two piece barrels mean you have more options for bore sizes and lengths with less barrels. single piece barrels mean you have to walk around with more barrels if you want the versatility.

Yes, do some research before asking and you can easily find the answer.

I have many 1 and 2 piece barrels...the majority are bored for Freak inserts. There's no difference when you do that, except a 2 piece comes apart for easier storage (but I never take mine apart).

You can get a 1 piece and have it bored for Freak inserts cheaper than many of the 2 piece barrel kits.

1-piece barrels are generally more efficient, however.

I would take multiple one-piece barrels with different bore over a 2-piece with a bunch of backs, any day.

Please explain? All 2 pieces I've used sealed pretty much as tight as possible due to the oring where they thread together. I've seen no noticeable difference in efficiency between that and the one pieces I have.

If I had to pick just one barrel, and didn't play in the winter I would choose the underbore Eigenbarrel. It's cheap, quiet, looks good, and shoots well. Only comes in black, though.

EDIT: I received an Axe a couple of days ago. When I shot it to test it I used a Deadly Wind with a .682 Freak insert (the smallest I had at the time), just for grins I switched to my underbore Eigenbarrel - the shot was quieter and I gained about 20 fps from the underbore. The paint was Valken Redemption, and with a .682 SS Freak it would get some rollouts when using an autococker...so the .682 was not the best fit.

I recently switched to a two-piece (Well I didn't really have a choice, it's all my Etha came with), and I really like it. One of the things that I never really thought about is that it's slightly easier to clean a two-piece if you get a really nasty break down the barrel that gunks it up. Pull the two pieces apart and you can easily get anything that got stuck in the center.

Here's the thing, though: There's a gap for the paint to get stuck in in a 2 piece.

Not a 1 piece. Gyvanth's scenario is nonexistent in that case.

Can honestly say that unless your 2 pc has really poor tolerances, that "gap" should be near nonexistent. I just put the few of mine together, and there is no visible gap where they meet from either end.

I think he means the overlap from where the (generally much smaller) bore of the rear suddenly widens to the front.

The only different with 2 piece is matching the bore size, but if it will thread on my gun then I will shoot with it on!

So the bore size of the front barrel doesn't really matter ? Anyone know if they all differ on sizes for the front or if they've been standardized ?

If you're using CO2 it doesn't matter at all. Get a CP or J&J for $30. If you're using HPA or a pump that's a different story.
