first of all the story's that you hear is rich kids bull****.

second of all i did a test of relubing on the field spec-R vs clone VX, spec-R is quicker to relube than the VX (this goes for spoollies).

cleaning and fixing of DP guns is eassier done than with other markers

a good comparisson is the FX vs Etek and EGO.

rammer is with the FX eassier to pull out than Etek or even the EGO but it has also less parts to deal with ( unless you take the rammer apart for cleaning) because it is a solid unit.

the volumizer is static wich makes cleaning easy compared to the lpr of the Etek and EGO ( it is a pin, spring and a cap that's it ).

regulator is spring loaded and not shimstack like the Etek in this case the EGO come's also with a spring loaded regulator.

2 screws keep the marker all together as to the Etek has 4 screws and EGO 3 screws.

FX uses less wires for the eyes and solenoid than the Etek and EGO

so in all it is a easier gun than the PE guns

pefotmance of the FX is better than the Etek but some say it is better than the EGO and others say it's not.

but most of all is what you like to play with and not what others say you have to buy so my opion is try first on the field than decide.

fx's are slightly quieter than eteks but when you add the techt law ram and hush bolt its no comparison.

A stock FX is quieter than a stock Etek. A FX with Techt law ram, hush bolt, and Disruptive barrel, makes for one of the quietest poppets on the planet.

The first two I would recommend has already been said... The TechT Hush bolt and Law ram. Not only will it quieter but will greatly reduce the kick. My next up great is a violent series trigger. Overall I love my FX!!! Sick marker for the $$

I had a etek 2 about 2 years ago... I did like the marker but before getting out I bought a G3 Spec R because I got a killer deal on the marker. I started playing with the G3 more than my etek. (I listen to the guys on here and got past the out of the box issues, nothing crazy just a few minor things with the G3) I decided to get back into the sport about a month ago and wanted a poppit because of the efficiency. I bought a FX with the techt upgrades and I love it! With the ups its a great marker for the money I spent

I actually prefer the critical trigger more than the violent series trigger on my fx..

I was looking at the FX also, I have a G4 and that gun does nothing but shoot well. I never really had a problem except 1 barrel break out of 15 cases and that was full auto 18 bps and i was a little under borred lol

ASA, grips, etc (standard upgrade or replacement for most markers). Only the bolt, ram, volumizer, detents (maybe), and maybe the trigger are unique upgrades for an FX.

With any DP marker, resale value sucks. That is really the biggest thing. People also seem to have trouble with their fittings right out of the box, but with a little tinkering they don't seem to have a problem afterwards.

The rest is really just personal preference. I haven't used an FX, but I have talked to some guys at my field that own their own and they said that they are pretty solid markers. FX's do tend to have a bit of a vibration when you shoot them though, from what I hear. It also seems that the regs aren't the best, but are fine. I know with at least the older RAPS ASA's people had problems with an oring blowing. I believe they fixed that, but don't quote me on it.

That's all I can really think of. DP markers are actually pretty solid markers once you work out the kinks. I love my Threshold

Don't get me started on the eye covers. Either they are made from really cheap material or they are coming from the factory over tightened to the gun. Many cases of them popping off (breaking off around the screw) the gun mid play. Maybe upping the bolt / ram will reduce vibrations and fix that issue though.

I have owned 2 FX's, and two of my teammates have FX's and none of us have ever had this problem. I can almost 100% guarantee that it is because people overtighten their eye covers that this happens. My eye covers never bent out, broke, stripped, nothing. Ever.

All you have to do is make sure the eye cover screws are snug and nothing more. If you over tighten you are doing it wrong anyway because you'll eventually strip the screw due to the force required to untighten it, so make sure they are snug not hulk strength tight.
