External hard drive with dead enclosure question
Alright, So my mybook live enclosure died the other day. I decided to take it out and just hook it up to my PC since it has all of my media on it.
I plugged it in and everything seems to be fine except that it wants me to format the drive to use it. This thing has a TB of media i dont want to lose. Anyone know how i can get the stuff off it without reformatting?

What file system does it have right now? I pulled my external drive out of its enclosure when the AC adapter stopped working and it worked fine in my PC.

Thats a good question.
Theres 2 drives that show up. 1 is like 500mb the other is the rest of the storage. Both show unknown file system.

Was it one of those moderated drives that has software installed on the computer, or software that pops up when you plug it in? If so, dunno what to tell you besides to google how to get around it.

it has software but not really. It just shows up as mass storage on the network and the software is for other things.
Ive been googling for about 2 hours and havent come across anything overly helpful.

I was gonna say try a liveCD and see if it shows up in Linux if what Mustang suggested doesn't help any.
