1 could be a bit tighter, but I think 2 is alright. I definitely agree about being able to see the entire wave. It gives a bit more perspective which is why I chose to crop looser.

They do look a bit soft.. :/ they're perfectly in focus, but for what ever reason, they don't look very sharp on flickr.

They look a little dark to me, bump the contrast and crop in a little on shots like that
like you said you want to show the wave, but still want to see the surfer, ya know

Saw that a bit ago. I wish they would have shown some of the shots in the actual video.. There's the 1 on the fstoppers page, but that's it. Which I completely understand that they only needed one shot. But to see more would have been nice.

Personally, I like 1b and 2b. But I'd like to hear what you guys think

I don't really dig 2b, but the others are all solid. I think if you used that style of processing on a different band it'd have the right impact on the image. It's too dark and cold for the Zac Brown Band to me. Maybe something heavier, brooding, etc. That's what tone it strikes with me anyway.

Got Chris's 50 1.4 in the mail today. Really getting anxious to get out to Colorado on Thursday. My camera is going to be glued to me all 4 days ...minus the wedding...

EDIT: I also fully support the nomination of Chris and Cody to the Mob. I know that traditions are more or less dead but for what it's worth they've both continually contributed to this thread in increasingly positive ways and their work is constantly improving.

That blue is how the lighting was, I just dropped the Vibrancy and threw a hipster wash on it, and that's mostly it.

But I opted for the black and white over the blue one for my portfolio in the end.
