If you dip it in non-distilled water it will short circuit. It's not water proof, that was just something like Dye did buy using distilled water.

If you really want to try, submerge a Spire in regular water and tell me how it goes.

Also, by your previous comment, I think it's safe to assume that you don't have a Spire to look at, sometime if you get the chance grab one and take a look at it. Definitely not waterproof.

Distilled. Water. They didn't use standard from the tap water. They used distilled water for both the Dye Rotor and Virtue Spire tests.

The Spire video was water from the hose. I rinsed mine out in my sink with the batteries still on it. None of those videos you posted have a Rotor or a Spire in it.

Just saying

But the point was submersion. Not a rinse. If I had a working video camera, I'd show the part that water would get into. It's up in the feedneck, where the raceway meets the shell, there's a gap there. The same gap that let paint into my hopper. THAT'S where water would get in and hurt the board and batteries.

If you're so confident that the Spire is immune to water, might as well just wash the internals, because that's what got paint on it an I was told to dip in water.

Not really.

Jugg proved that water didn't get to the circuit board/batteries. I was told to dip the internals (You know, where the paint was) in water. That would **** **** up if it was on.

If he does another video showing that the parts the argument were started over are immune to water, I guess I'd be wrong.

No, I haven't won yet. There's still someone convinced that they're right, either me or him, so until he or someone else proves me wrong, we're at a draw.

Now, I'm not willing to sacrifice my Spire just to prove that water + electronics = bad.

Alright, then you win. The Spire has found a way to beat the death that 99.999% of all electronics will meet with water. That's including markers (I've lost a few that way), other hoppers (a teammate lost his Rotor and a V1 Prophecy), and a couple cameras I've lost to the rain.

You win, I lose. It's that simple. Although, you could afford to chill out quite a bit.

I'm not the one bashing people here for your mis-wording and I'm not back pedaling.

Umpteen guns played with in the Rain not to mention The Monsoon that was NPPL San Diego 2008. Lost my gun (Angel A1) in Ankle Deep water, picked it up and it kept on shooting.

Who remembers the Heavy Rains in PSP NJO (Bob Long Ripper and Rotor survived) or even the mini Hurricane at World Cup (Geo2 and Rotor Survived)

WGP Trilogy SF, was playing in the rain and dragged it through a puddle. Bye bye board (It's actually still sitting in a box next to my desk, you know any good mech frames?). Bob Long 2k6 Alias, it was left on a table in the rain for a few minutes and the board had to be dried before it would turn on without holding a solid blue and red light. My friend had a pod with broken balls in it that made it into his Rotor, he decided to just fill his sink, drop it in, and shake it around a bit. Bam, dead Rotor.

So, while you have had perfect luck, water decides to **** me at every opportunity it gets.

EDIT: Oddly enough, I forgot to mention my DP guns I've owned have actually been the only solidly waterproof guns I've had.

Distilled. Water. They didn't use standard from the tap water. They used distilled water for both the Dye Rotor and Virtue Spire tests.
It's kind of funny how these rumors start. I wonder where this came from since I'm not aware of saying what kind of water was used, and Im the only one who'd know. But I can assure you that redneck hack job barnyard video wasn't using distiller water. I filled up a horse watering bucket with the hose. It's at least 7 gallons of water in there. Besides, I spent my entire budget on bacon and eggs for that vid

Unless Dye said otherwise I'd assume they used tap water as well. I'd never actually heard of the distilled water electronics thing until reading this thread.

Semi related to this, haven't they been sealing boards for a few years now? The only part I can imagine water bothering on a board anymore is where power transfers (E.g., Battery connections)?

It's not like it's all that hard (with the proper equipment for you anal trolls) to put a microfilm on something to seal it, hell you can even have it done to your cellphone now.

Oh, and distilled water is still conductive, just to a much smaller degree. (Fractional degree to that of most tap water)

salt is a corrosive. For the amount of time I had it in would be fine if rinsed off after wards with tap water. Left too long and the Salt water can eat through the protective layer but it would take time.
