I'm more of a woodsball/scenario king of guy and I“ve never owned a speedball marker and I just ordered a new Etek 4. I“m sure it“ll be a great deal after playing with my fully mod. A5 for a while. I was wondering if there were any upgrades that were worth while. I“ve heard all kinds of bad stuff about the stock barrel. I alredy own an Ifit kit for my A5 and was thinking of just geting the cocker threaded adapter to throw it on the Etek“s stock barrel. Does anyone have any experience with this? What about the board? Is it worth geting the rampage board? What are your thoughts on the Hush / Kush bolts from TechT? Cure4? Are any of these upgrades really worth it? I look forward to hearing from the most experienced.
The shaft 4 barrels are great. It may be a bigger bore size either .89 or .93 I am not sure. I had a hush bolt on my etek 3 and one of my ego's and for the money I was not impressed. Unless the stock cure bolt is breaking paint or you have money to burn I didn't feel it was worth it. The stock board has uncapped/capped semi and ramping...unless you need other firing modes like full auto (which is useless most fields don't allow it) that would be a waste of money as well. If you are playing woodsball semi should be just fine.
The Etek 4's are already pretty excellent now stock. The stock board is more than sufficient unless you need a LCD board. Smaller bore barrel backs would be all I recommend. Or a cure 3+ if and only if you're breaking paint with the stock.
And you can buy ifit barrel adapters, that still fit the inserts in them. Then you can use your old barrel if you want to, and it will probably be cheaper than buying a regular barrel adapter, and it won't add another piece/ another 1" to your barrel.
Thanks for the feedback guys! Has anyone shot the Shaft4 with the Ifit kit from TechT?
Never heard of anyone trying that but it would be one crazy bore length. The shaft 4's are quite popular right now as most geo2/3 and ego11 owners have been shootin them over upgraded barrels. Adding an ifit kit would just the bore longer, ie better consistency and increased fps.
The shaft backs have been very consistent and efficient. If you can get a hold of a .685 or a .681 that violent products makes you would be set. I exclusively use my .685 back when ever I play...it's really the only back I need.
I just got my Etek 4 lt and I have a ifit kit for it... I am happy with it, but I am only on my first case of paint. I am going to try and do some accuracy testing in the next week or so, everytime I go out its always windy
My opinion on the barrel is you would be better off having it freak bored. I was looking at getting the boost kit and .681 back for my Etek 4 but I didn't like the price or the fact I would have to switch my earth back for black. Considering this I just had my back freak bored and then I picked up a few used freak bores for cheap. Basically, I have more options with my barrel now and it still matches while I spent half the money it would have cost me for a boost kit and .681 back.
I just go the Etek 4 this past week. This is my first marker. I am going to do wood and speed ball. I was just doing outdoor yesterday and not speedball yet. I loved the marker at close range. It forces you to move in in the field to get good shots. 5 hits I got right on the hopper as they popped up.
When doing flanking this marker was just wonderful. Could get 4 people even before they could get to the trigger.
I noticed when I wanted range the out of box setup was not so great. Is there away I can get this marker better for this? Or would I be giving up a lot of what I was loving yesterday?
You will get extra range with the apex barrel...but at extended ranges sometimes the paint doesn't break...or depending on what type of paint you are shooting the apex could cause breaks with the way it works.
