Hyper 3 Top Half Stuck

The top half of my Hyper 3 is stuck to the top cap of the reg. I don't want to strip any threads or ruin anything. Does anyone know of a sure fire way to get them to come apart?

Thanks

a vice... use a rubber tech mat so you dont scratch it and just clamp down and turn

I tried that and it just started tearing through the rubber , and the allen key got wedged in the top somehow. So it must have started to dig out the grooves for it.

I put mine in a bench vice grip with soft wood on both sides of the reg. If you don't use soft wood you run the risk of damaging the body. Then I just used a allen key to take the top half off.

Or wrap it in electrical tape so that the adhesive grips, and the channel locks have something to bit into.

yes, the allen key will feel like it's stuck, just push it up and it will come out.. the best advice is vice with rubber mat, and just slowly take it off, it seems like alot of force but it really isnt

Vice grips + rubber belt = winning.

The vice + rubber mat works too, but takes longer and you can't throw it in your gearbag. And I would avoid using tape, if the reg is tight enough you will tear through the tape and maul the reg body before it comes loose.

Sounds weird, but I used these toy hand cuffs that are made of extremely thick rubber (don't ask), and a vice. I wrapped them around the body of the reg and tightened the vice down. I put a ton of pressure into it and it popped loose. It was a pretty absurd amount of pressure.

Sometimes you just got to use some kinky handcuffs.

I just had a similar issue and I used some thick rubber and vice grips and a bunch of elbow grease. Also tapping the reg on some wood might help break it loose. Mine was the bottom cap that wouldn't come off, but the same basic idea.

Thinking of using thick rubber with vice and a impact driver on it this coming weekend. What do you guys think?

i used couple orings and some old bike handle bar grips to wrap the reg body, then put it in a bench vise, and use a t handle allen to remove the top
