Hi all, figured I'd give this a try after hanging out here and growing for a few years amongst all the awesome pros and fantastic amounts of inspiring work ST: P holds.
If you don't know me, I'm James, most of my friends call me Gravey because of my last name. I grew up and reside in a small town called Modena, about 50 minutes southwest of Philadelphia. In June I completed a 4 year degree at Drexel University, obtaining my BS in Digital Media. I love 3D art and animation and my ideal job would be working in that industry as a character modeler, set designer or lighting specialist. This is a current project, creating a 3D version of a 90's copy of Starscream:
So how'd I get into photography? It kinda runs in the blood. My dad got a Canon TX film SLR when he graduated high school, which he still uses to this day. I also have a cousin who graduated from Drexel as a photo major.
When I graduated from 5th grade my parents got me a Polaroid iZone and that started it all. At my high school graduation, my dad got me a Canon Rebel XSi and from there on I was hooked.
For me, photography is about capturing the moment as it lies, capturing the situation in that one split second for which it exists. I don't do much retouching or compositing in my photos, nothing too fancy. I love being able to take something everyone can see and put it in the perspective that the world is amazing, that people are amazing. So much is taken for granted, photography has helped me find a foothold in the simple beauty of everyday situations.
So with that, I leave some photos from throughout my 4.5 years of shooting and a simple thanks for stopping by. I'll try to keep the thread updated with significant images and not random crap.
