All the guard/reservist I've worked around are pretty incompetent
On top of that the horror stories from tdys with them

we have some good guard and reserve guys in my unit. It really comes down to training and getting the hands on time to maintain currency. We have two SSgts who are ARTs that are three levels

It becomes a lot like paintball (or any other hobby) you keep convincing your self you NEED another razor, or another brush, or a different soap. It can get dangers. Commonly known as RAD. Razor Acquisition Disorder.

Speaking of expensive hobbies I can't wait to stop buying beer. I should be rolling in money before I leave unless I put myself on the liver transplant list trying to drink down what I have on hand.

Problem for guard in aircraft mxs is that if your not constantly working. You forget how to do it

it's the same thing with computers. all the good ones are on orders so they get the training they need and they work it for their actual job. one weekend a month and two weeks a year isn't enough to maintain technical proficiency

I love hoppy, bitter beers. I'm not really into fruity beers, like DFH raison d' etre, can't do it. Their punkin ale...thats different though
but yea...I just like hoppy beers. Seriously, if you're looking to send out some bottles I will gladly pay for shipping and cost.

most everything I have on hand is on the malty and high ABV side of things because they age well. I have a lot of stouts, barleywines, and a smattering of belgian style beers. the closest thing I have to hoppy and bitter are some Stone Old Guardians from 2012.

Although, I would argue that AGR maintainers are very good. Some of them have worked on the same planes for 15+ years. They can tell you its history off the top of their head

I've never met one worth a damn.
Example. Guard took 52 minutes to scramble. We can do it under 10 iirc

MX has zero to do with how long it takes to scramble. MX isn't even needed to start up and get airborne? In my 12 years of crewing aircraft, most guard/reserve guys are extremely knowledgeable but don't ask them to do anything close to above or beyond their "contract".

I didn't me we as in mxs. I meant we as in active duty. My bad
I want to meet a good guard/reservist. I just never have
Even my friend that guard says he doesn't know his job b.c they never fly. Which means they never break so they never have mxs
I think they should turn guard into active. But only because I want to be able to go to Alaska.
So stoked for weekend.
Saw the snow storm back home and kinda miss it
Then I remember how big of pain it is to work in it
But Alaska would be worth it
