I'm in the gun ban thread and have been discussing things and this guy said this to me and this is my response. Is there something wrong with my mentality? Am I wrong?

You are the problem, the attitude that every call is the North Hollywood shootout is the problem, people in law enforcement positions having fetishistic obsessions with responding to tactical situations which they will never see and acting like wannabe action heroes/ Delta force is the problem.
Definitely don't think I'm a hero. Definitely don't take job seriously 100% of the time. I don't dream of kicking in doors or getting into firefights. I don't like writing tickets or giving people a hard time. I do my job and make sure people safe.
But let me say this. I am a realist. I understand the concept that anything can happen, at any time, at any location. If somebody doesn't think about lone gunmen, multiple shooters, multiple weapons, dynamite, nuclear bombs, crazy greased up naked deaf guy... then who will? How do we adequately prepare for these situations? Do we just allow them to happen then develop policy after the fact?
Why does law enforcement train with their firearms if they don't have to use them everyday? Why does emergency management teams train for hazardous spills and disasters if they rarely occur? Why does the US military develop more efficient vehicles, weapons, tanks, jets, etc when we're not at war?
I can go on and on... bottom line is there are individuals that are not blind to situations that can occur at any time. It is incredibly foolish to not prepare yourself physically, spiritually, and especially mentally for situations that can occur.
But my question is... why are you so offended by my desire to understand and prepare for any situation? Its not some wet dream... they are situations that can realistically happen. Again if I was in that situation I listed previously I would rather a cop be prepared to enter a situation when I personally am out gunned and out manned removing me from the fight. If I was that cop; I would rather know that I am capable to enter a situation and combat a threat rather than make myself a potential casualty and cause more harm than good.
Is this wrong for some reason? Because this is what I've been taught. Always alert and always prepared.
So really, what's your problem and why are you hostile?
