Not sure if serious...
Most of them have served in a public office for at least 10 years by the time they get there.. Many have been in service much longer than that. But since they have likely bounced from local service to state, then to federal, there is no transfer of retirement benefits... Same thing with the President. They have definitely worked a lot more in their 20 years than most military folks. Not to mention, quite a few of them have military service under their belt too.
You may not agree with everything all of them have to say, but they didn't get to where they are by not working for it. If that were the case, sign me up for a senate seat.
I am going off on a complete tangent now, but I am getting tired of this "Military people deserve so much more" circlejerk. ****ing tired of it. It is a job like anything else. You are not special. You are here because you didn't want to go to college (if you are enlisted) Not many other places will give you the money and benefits right out of high school so it was a good deal. If you feel you are not getting compensated well enough or being worshiped enough for your "heroism" then feel free to get out find a better paying job as a doctor or some **** and stop your *****ing. Comparing what we do to congress is stupid and makes no sense. And people who feel we deserve to make more than them are just kidding themselves. Not to mention cutting the paycheck of every senator/representative in half would net us less money than if we cut every service members monthly paycheck by $1 so no it doesn't make sense to cut their salary. I am tired of that argument too. Did you see that new list saying that being an enlisted member is the #1 most stressful job in the United States? Are you kidding me? By who's account? Really beat out Firefighter, OR Doc, Brain surgeon, EMT? Right. Let's keep the circlejerk going...
And none of that was directed at you shred.. you just spurred a tangent.
