Exactly. Pepper spray won't take down everyone, neither will a taser. But then the idea is that it's only supposed to disorient your assailant enough for you to get away, or if you're a cop, move in and arrest. I still think the use of firearms as self defense is a last resort but can be necessary in some cases.
I still maintain that laws only stop honest people and if someone is that hellbent on putting a bullet in someone they will find a way, legal or illegal.

Not if your end goal is to shoot at paper, and just feel like your shooting something more than a .22.
Also TFs friend might hate me:
"Would you rather your daughter/mother have a handgun for defense if a bug 300 pound man named Juan wanted his way with her? Pepper spray don't work on Jaun, he puts that stuff on his eggs every morning before heading to work, Juan don't put no lead on his eggs."
5.45x39 is actually an extremely lethal round. It has better ballistics than, and tumbles MUCH worse than 5.56/.223. In the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, it earned the nickname "poison bullet."

Make sure tazers aren't considered a weapon by your school.
My brother is doing his EMT clinicals right now, what comes next? I don't get the whole process of becoming an EMT.
You take the course and do your clinical time. Once you pass the course, you have to take the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) skills test. You pass that, then it's a written test. Once you pass that, you have national certification but must get your TX cert to work here. You get that basically by filling out a form with your registry number.
