New Electronic Gun

Me and my friends have recently started playing paintball and my uncle let me borrow his STOCK Smart Parts ION. It shoots great but trigger is kinda iffy. I've heard that ION is a great gun for it's price.

I would like to ask what would be a good electronic marker for a beginner player.

If you're considering new, check out the Gog Envy or Extcy. Extcy is closest to the Ion XE (with a few improvements). The Envy is similar, but has reduced rate of fire and no eyes but can be upgraded, although if you were to do that, you may as well get the Extcy.

Correct.
Althought you could find a nice up'd or fairly new in bst's. For same amount of cash. Do some research and save to buy.
Most markers or ion problems are mostly maintenance issues.

I own an XE, but if I had to get another gun, I'd try to find a used eXTCy. They aren't up for sale in the bst very often, but I like the external eye covers and tapped trigger pin hole on eXTCys.

I was looking at the EXTCY but its more than i can afford.. Theres players selling ION XE for $100-$150 while EXTCY goes for $230..

should I just wait and save up a little bit more for the EXTCY?

Also is there a good e-marker that can be used for woodsball as well?

If you were to save up a bit more you can find a good used planet eclipse etha for 200-250 and if you want the mil sim look for woodsball, you can buy the emc kit which I think is 75 bucks so then your good to go for both speedball and woodsball!

One has ION XE with upgrades of rake trigger, Eggy 2, Redz Pepperstick, and locking feedneck: $100 + Shipping

Another with ION XE with upgrades of Techt L7 Bolt kit, GOG 360 QEV, Critical feedneck: $120

Which one should i choose?

Choose the 2nd one. The techt bolt, qev, and feedneck are great upgrades. Triggers are dirt cheap, $10, so you can get the one you want.

You're new here, so be careful in the BST. Make sure people have a lot of good feedback and no bad feedback. For instance, if nerdcore up there had an ion to sell it would be a safe bet. Under his name are green/black/red numbers. He has a lot of green(good) transactions and no reds(bad) transactions.

good luck. The ion is a great choice for any play type, including woods.

Do you already have a tank and mask? If not, those are expenses you need to consider. If you can't scrounge up extra cash then take a look at the spyder and tippmann starter packs, they come with tanks and masks.

I love that you're like it's got a few improvements, but no eyes, and it's slower... lol improvements you say...

OP, just get yourself a nice fully upgraded ion with a techt bolt, board. It will shoot as good as anything else out there.

Is there anymore upgrades that I can do to make this a better intermediate marker?

Nice, my favorite upgrades for the ion in order are:

Addendum- A clamping feedneck

1. An upgrade board- virtue, tadao, or ape. This way you have all the modes you might want.

2. QEV (allows it to cycle faster)

3. TechT bolt smooths it out increases efficiency (you can lower the dwell a lot).

4. Kila Detents or spring detents.

With that stuff it's essentially as good as anything.

I suggest ebay, it's extremely cheap for stuff like this especially if you can pick it up lightly used. Last time I had an ion I got a Ion virtue board for $50 off ebay.

QEV and bolt should be done next,preferable at the same time as you'll have to adjust you dwell and imput pressure lower,you will get more shots per tank and it will cycle smoother and faster,detents are another good cheap mod
I prefer the Techt L7 also,and 360 QEV.Other QEVs will work but the 360 is designed specificly for Ions

I looked at the QEV 360 and people said this is the number one upgrade for the ION. Second would be the bolt.
