Before he was president, we didn't have a huge economic crisis. Things change when you're inherit something that has the possibility to become the worst economic downfall in this country's history.

It would be like being promised $30,000 from a dead relative, so you make plans to pay off your car, your student loans, put a percentage in to investments, etc. and then when the time comes for your money to come in, you only receive $3,000. You have to change and re-prioritize a few things.

Now, of course, Obama has done some shady ****. I agree. But I don't think you should be rating his performance. You should be saying you disagree with the things he actually did and provide sources for those specific things.

So what's your excuse for Romney writing off 47% of the country?

I'm not using it as an excuse. I'm making a statement. Is what I said wrong?

Here we go again with another Democrat using the 47% comment out of context to their advantage

There is no need to take it out of context, it is damning in context. Mitt meant what he said about it, it's a common Republican meme and it's complete horse****.

But you don't agree that there is 47% of the country that will automatically vote for Obama because they want to continue receiving their entitlements?

To be fair, the idea that 47% of the vote is a lock for Obama because of entitlements is utter bull****. Seniors typically vote Republican, and Romney put his foot in his mouth when he said it.

Hold on a second... did you think 47% of the country was on welfare or something?

Ezra Klein ‏@ezraklein
The centrist agenda, as defined by Bloomberg: all Bush tax cuts expire, act on climate change, pro gun control, pro choice, pro gay marriage
Retweeted by Matt Yglesias

So basically left of Obama.

+1 for the asymmetric polarization hypothesis

Out of context? I urge you to go watch those videos again if you think what I said was out of context.

He very clearly stated he need not worry about 47% of this country, those who don't pay income taxes, because they're not going to vote for him anyways. Does that seem right to you?

What is wrong with acknowledging you won't get a certain percentage of votes?

This is my problem:

He pretended that we live in a state where 47% of the people are entitlement driven democrats who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. In actuality, that 47% of the population is largely made up of seniors, disabled, military, and the working poor. His twisted worldview is scary to me.

Also people tend to ignore this gem: "we'll see—without actually doing anything—we'll actually get a boost in the economy."
