Social Security disability, food stamp programs, BadgerCare (state funded medical insurance), subsidized housing, pell grants, etc etc. There are tons of programs funded by tax payers that help the "less fortunate."

Welfare should be abolished altogether. Enough supporting the weak and stupid. The people who take advantage of the system far outweigh the ones who actually need it.
Sure, I feel bad that you can hardly afford your next meal, but tough ****. Should have went to college instead of ****ing around and getting drunk/high all the time. The middle class works harder and harder, while more degenerates practically drink all the money away.

I'm all for helping those who absolutely need it, hence why I've volunteered as an EMT in my town and a big reason why I joined the military. I am not some heartless **** who has no interest in helping Americans in need. But no one can deny that **** has gotten out of control and needs to be revamped.

Private charity is just a better overall option than mandatory tax payer funded donations in my opinion.

What makes you say this? What is this based on? What evidence do you have to support this belief?

Because I live in this neat thing called reality. I've been a non union laborer for the past year working for an asset manager of a major real estate company. Almost all of the work I do is on foreclosed homes, of which almost all are in ****ty neighborhoods of decent sized towns. Almost daily, I see firsthand where a lot of social welfare funds are going and how these people are using these opportunities. It is a complete slap in my face to have these scumbags coming up to me begging me for **** or stealing **** off my truck or trailer. They are clearly capable of working, but they've been conditioned to be leeches on everyone who works harder than them and has nicer things than them. Then I look around my hometown, which is a predominantly white middle class area. I see a lot of single moms with 1, 2, 3 kids just soaking up subsidized housing, food stamps, free school and grants. They continue to be **** bag parents and genuinely show no effort to better their situation. Why? Becuase big brother will take care of everything.
What makes you think that these social programs are beneficial to the future of our country?

Social security is paid into by the disabled employee and is a form of insurance. You pay premiums for your own coverage.
Food stamp programs and medicaid do not hand over cash, and cover a lot of people who work.
Housing subsidies go directly to landlords, and often have work requirements.
Pell Grants are strictly for students and many grantees work. Eligibility is based on family wealth, not work status.
You are basically wrong in all possible ways about all possible things on this topic. The problem isn't that people don't want to work, 10% unemployment is practically a disaster in this country. The problem is that people can work, very hard, and still be poor as ****. And chances are quite low that you are subsidizing many people, if any.

Gonzo is right here, although there are some tweeks I would do to the welfare system, to say the majority are "lazy and just collecting money" is untrue. I wont deny that it happens, but you guys are blowin it out of proportion.

Social Security is not insurance no matter how much you want it to be. The Government is using money from Peter to pay Paul. Its a pyramid scheme, and its coming down!
Food stamp programs and medicaid do not hand over cash, and cover a lot of people who work.
Where do you think the money for food stamps and medicaid is coming from? We, the taxpayers!
Housing subsidies go directly to landlords, and often have work requirements.
It doesn't matter if it goes directly to the landlords. Its still taxpayer money!

You asked Animal_Mother to name the programs that use taxpayer dollars to benefit private individuals... and he has done so.
I REALLY wish there was a way to e-slap people.
