Both, the "beginner division is 3-man" and the "open divisions is 5-man." Sorry it was clear in the 1st post, it has been corrected.

You and your team may play pump in ether division if you'd like. I know the last event 1 team in beginner had a guy playing pump. As for a pump division there isn't enough of a turn-out normally to run a pump division as much as I would like too.

Radford University is planning on being at this event, are we going to get booted if we have a beginner and open team?

I'm glad to hear Radford is coming. As long as the players listed on each team fit the above criteria per division I do not foresee a problem. Unless someone is sandbagging, as stated above "Pev's reserves the right to move teams to a higher division based on individual participants skill levels. Teams intentionally playing below their level will be disqualified."
I you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

I've heard from multiply teams so far and sounds like its going to be a pretty good turnout in both divisions!

Criteria for classifying "beginners"

I'm concerned about this "rule". It's very ambiguous, and doesn't denote what the criteria are for determining a player's skill level. I tried to sign up for the last PTS in beginner class, but because I've been playing rec ball for a few years and speedball less than a year (and because I'm recognized as a 'regular' at Pev's for being there a lot this summer), they wouldn't let me sign up for beginner. Never mind the fact that I've never played in a single tourney EVER, or that I'm 40 years old and there are plenty of kids out there in better shape and skill then me that 'qualify' for beginner. I watched the last PTS and those beginner teams were NOT a bunch of 10 year olds with Tippmans as Pev's proclaimed it would be.
I just don't want to sign me and my friends up for beginner only to get told on gameday to either move up to Open (and get destroyed) or GTFO and forfeit our entry fee. I hope this won't be the case. If someone could clear this up I'd appreciate it.

it will be hard to tell you to move up since its a 3 man and a 5 man. i think you will be ok since all skill levels in paintball really varies. there are those who plays rec ball only and are good at it. but that doesnt mean hes gonna do good in tourney.

Exactly. Chrispy PM'd me and explained it. I hope he posts the explanation here, because it's very informative IMO.
