Benchstock-common parts such as screws, gaskets, clamps, orifices, band clamps, wire, splices, terminations, all sorts of **** that you go thru and cant really wait on it being ordered if you need more.

I don't know what Navy Avionics are like, work wise, but if you're actually doing work instead of just hot-swapping boxes, then you'll become best friends with the scrounge pouch.

There's 3 strands to Avionics. AE, aka wire chasers, they troubleshoot wires and connections n ****. AT-O, who troubleshoot big components (like just radar and sonar and radios as a whole). And finally, me, AT-I. We repair components.

Basically. I'll be soldering and repairing parts on my own. Since shipping **** out while at sea isn't exactly easy or ideal.

In a nutshell:

AE: This "sonar on" light isn't getting power. It's not the wife's fault so it must be the component.
AT-O: HERP LET ME CHECK YEP IT'S DONE BORKEN. DERP HURP.
AT-I then finds which component in the sonar isn't working and repairs it.

With the Js, they arent out of contract with LHM yet, so we have to send all boxes back and dont repair them our selves. So about 1/4 of our job is box swapping, but if you're ELEN, you're doing EVERYTHING. Its not split up like the Navy. But you know that.

Lett and those cats do a lot of wire and switch repair. Backshop does mostly battery caps/lox bottles.

Is Lett not on the A-10s? Im not sure what they have in Korea so I dont really know. Honestly, we dont do too many switch or wire repair jobs. If its a wire repair job, its mostly a TCTO or repairing a wire that got pinched by a window or MLG door or some dumb *** not knowing what he was doing. I love getting called out to a job to trouble shoot cause its our part that needs the shootin with the other shops thinking they are getting out of the job just to shoot the job back to them. *****, take that.

Lett works both 16s and 10s. That's just the phase dock, though. 25th (A-10C's) has their own flightline E&E, as does the 36th (Block 40 F-16C/D's); and then we have a backshop on top of it.
