Try flashing a stable clean jelly bean ROM. Maybe some of the Samsung and Verizon bloatware is looking the battery
Also turn off notifications for everything

me too. there are things i like about the swype and swiftkey boards.. but i DO occasionally use voice text,, and those 2 dont play as nicely with that function.. and i hate getting alerted to "select my input type" anytime the keyboard opens

My phone Swypes with the stock keyboard. Actually I don't think its really Swype, it just does the same thing. I don't use it nearly as much as I thought I would when I accidentally realized you could do it.

I own the infinity and have held the notes 10.1 and it was garbage. It just felt flimsy and the screen was meh at best. S note felt really like a gimmick. Asus is whats up.
