I would gladly pay 50 clams a case at a decent field. If the price is too high, use less. Field entry fees and big game fees are what tend to be expensive, at least around here. How do I counter that? Use less paint. Simple.
Bottom line for me: If I want it badly enough, I'll make it work. Applies to things outside of paintball too. It's a good mindset to have in life in my opinion.

THIS. Paintball is extremely cheap compared to what it used to be.
A decent PUMP marker used to cost hundreds of dollars and paint was very expensive. Not many people had semi-autos. Nowadays you can pick up a 98 Custom (a semi-auto, mind you) for 50 bucks on the used market, a Revvy hopper for under $30, and a 20oz co2 bottle for less than that. Paint averages about $15/500ct. bag around here. After your initial investment, you're looking at 20 bucks for a bag of paint, a co2 fill, and an afternoon of good clean fun. How the hell is that not cheap?
