Who uses a camera ?

I have some spare money to spend on gear or something I want so I was thinking of a gun or getting a camera.

I'm not the kind of person who uploads videos to youtube everyday or editing every day, but I might if I get a Camera. I play Speedball on season and woodsball off with my team.

I don't really need a gun unless its something to play around with. I use a luxe and a e sniper now.

Do you guys use a camera ?

Camera

I use a Contour Roam mounted on my goggles and I love that thing. It's so small, light, and compact I don't even think about it while I'm playing. It has a wide view and shoots in 1080P HD. I tried a GoPro but it's just too damn big and awkward to wear on my goggles.
The Contour just has a slide switch to turn it on or off and that's it. Very simple and easy to use.
I really like being able to relax the day after a game and watch the videos. I also use it to get candid shots of people getting hit by my tripwire landmines. Love watching people getting eliminated by my grenades too. lol

Just a word of warning - if you are not, as you say, "the kind of person who uploads videos to youtube", you may not realize just how much work is involved in making a video that is actually watchable on youtube. The camera, and getting it set up on your helmet (or gun) is just the first in many steps.

I run a GoPro 2 as part of my paintball set-up.
It's nice to have and watch videos of yourself and others playing, even if you don't intend on uploading them.
If the gun isn't necessary, go with the camera. At least you can use that for other sports as well.

I plan on getting a GoPro in the next few weeks. In addition to paintball, our family has all kinds of activities I'd like to record and watch.

I would almost say a camera is essential paintball equipment these days. What could be better than videos to get non players interested?

I'm going to be choosing a helmet camera soon as well. I like the Go Pro series for its quality and diversity, but the profile of the Contour is awesome! Quality and accessories goes to Go Pro, but sleek make of the Contour is major points, especially in paintball and water sports (Roam is waterproof)..
In the end, I will probably go for the Go Pro 3 though; it's all about top notch quality in the end, and 4k gives great editing options. Also heard it does better in low light.. Will have to get creative to avoid a larger profile for splats, also will have to be careful to not lose it to a low hanging tree branch in the backcountry..

Please.........for the love of god................no more boring paintball videos!

I'm kidding(sort of). Have fun but remember, you know what's going on in a video......people on youtube have no clue so don't post up every minute you record. It takes hours of footage to get minutes of video.

I had never made a youtube video before, then I got a Contour Roam 2 and I enjoy is a lot. I've only made one video for youtube, but I like to keep an archive of some of the cool stuff that has happened so that I can show friends and family rather than attempt to describe it.

I would definitely recommend the Contour Roam 2, because it's so light and you barely even know it's there. It also shoots in 1080p.

i too have been considering this, and will probably end up going for a contour camera. mostly just for the profile.

one of these lens sheilds for paintball might be worth looking into as well, yes the cameras are pretty tough but this is better than scratching the camera's lense, an is easily replaceable:

I use a contour GPS, and the customer service is pretty helpful, but the company has no backing to its products and changes them fast.

Looks like the Hero3 pretty much kicks contour's ***, unfortunately.

I'd say to mount it on the barrel right in front of your hand.

I wouldn't get a camera. Its a novel thing but it doesn't give you perspective like a3rd party view to show you what you did wrong to get better at Speedball. A camera off field might help you more.

I really don't see the point of recording rec ball since they're is a game every 10 minutes. I'd spend money on field fees and paint.

True, but maybe he wants to film just to watch himself play, show it to friends/family, maybe even later on decide to go into filming for paintball, etc. Also, filming at a field and posting it on Youtube can help promote the field, and get more customers. There are always a lot of ups to filming. I personally would recommend the GoPro over any other camera for paintball. Lot of cool features with it, great company, and the best option in my opinion!

This isn't true. You can watch the film and see room for improvement.... 100% You can see things like.... wow I didn't call out that guys position... or wow I could have bumped there no problem but I didn't... etc.. making cool vids (check my sig) is a benefit, but the biggest advantage is to watch and find room for improvement.

Also, as far as mounting, get a handle bar mount and mount it as far back on the barrel as you can the back of the camera should basically be touching your hopper.
