so i was out on the field this past weekend, decided to play with my old gun a bit a smart parts vibe with a Custom Products V2 Regulator on it.
I chronoed at a little over 270, and i noticed changing the velocity on the reg up a bit it leaked like mad.. and if i turned the screw to lower the velocity barely any air entered the gun at all and the paintballs just shot a couple feet..

so whatever i was chronoed so i played anyway.. not sure if its the ****ty smart parts linear barrel or what, never liked that barrel, but when i was shooting i pretty much had to lob them from my back bunker to get them to reach S1.. and when they got there it was so slowed down it wouldnt really break anyway, i tried this with a couple different paints as a way to troubleshoot barely hah
anyway i got no idea whats going on

If you're reg is leaking you need to clean it and relube it. If that doesn't work, change the o-rings in it. And if that doesn't work take the reg seat (red plastic cylinder in the bottom works) and flip it over.

it only leaks when i turn the screw in or out, its a brand new reg it shouldnt need to be cleaned or rebuilt, it has 2 cases through it

well actually only leaks when i turn screw to increase velocity, if i decrease it to below 250fps all of a sudden it drops to like 10fps..

Even if it's new it could have been sitting on a shelf for a while. I always make it a point to clean and relube a regulator when I get one. The lube can be old or the o-rings can be dried out. I've had regs gummed with lube from too much or being bone dry from it either drying out or not being lubed enough.
It shouldn't be leaking period so a cleaning and relubing should be the first order of business to see if that corrects the issue.

got it off finally by using vice grips and scratching the reg a little now i cant figure out how to tear it down..

The top section comes off, put it to the side.
The middle should have the shim stack, use an allen or your finger to push it out and keep it together. You don't want to drop the shims if you can help it. Saves you time and aggravation of getting the manual. Clean and relube the o-rings on the piston. Should be one at the top and bottom.
The bottom works you usually don't have to mess with it. But if you have to all you do is turn the adjustment screw in until the reg seat (little red plastic cylinder) pops up. Carefully remove it with your fingers, don't scratch it or damage it. There should be a ball bearing and washer beneath it or something to that effect. You can then turn the adjustment screw all the way out.
You want to keep the reg seat clean so you really don't even need to grease it. Just gently wipe it down with a cloth and check for damage. Worst case if you clean and relube it and get it all back together and it still leaks, flip the reg seat over. Sometimes a worn reg seat will cause a leak and flipping it to the other side fixes it.

Again, most of your work is going to be just on the piston. You don't need to mess with the bottom section in the vast majority of situations.
