Riot shield
Has anyone used one during a game? I think it would be interesting as a prop for a big game. A player can use it for x minutes. Can only carry a pistol. The shield can only be eliminated with a nerf. If the player is struck by a pb then is eliminated but the shield can be used by another player.

I made some shields from those round sleds they sell at WalMart. each team had 5. Shield hits didn't count, but anything else eliminated the player. A few years ago I saw a field run a Spartan vs Persians game where they let players bring shields. It makes for an interesting game.

funny you ask,
we just used ours this past weekend at
a scenario at Fireball MT in NJ.
We provided the other team with one to keep it even.
Rules were:
Grenade hit will take it out...producer didnt want to include nerf fits so we wont be shooting nerfs At players. Worked well, added more fun to the game.
The challenge was to get the angle on the player..
we have (2) that are plexiglass
and one made from PB netting..

Netting Was Perfect. Its The Same Netting The Fields Use For Dead Boxes/safe Zones. We Will Be Using Them Again For Our Star Wars Themed Game May 20th 2012 At On Target Paintball (pemberton, Nj)

I've seen people make guns out of all sorts of fun stuff, like a guy who gutted and modded a car door and made one!
I currently would like to make one some itme in the future ala the shield from Gears of War, where I could carry it, and shoot, but I could drive it into the ground and use it as a mobile cover spot if given the chance. Only issue would A) be possible of torn up turf, although if I played in the woods or on a grassy area, it wouldn't be to big a deal (no I don't mean astroturf like a speedball field -_-), and B). Having to come up with custom rules for it, like if it was planted it could be destroyed by nerf/nade hits, and the cover would be useless, but the player would still be alive, or some variant.
Still, I like the plexiglass idea, how much did that run you?

Ahh well if you ever get a chance and find out, I'd love to know! I am going to guess carrying a plexiglass one is a lot lighter then carrying the wood one I had in mind haha.

If you want to play in an epic battle with shields then you should check out the 300 GAME @ Hell Survivors the fourth Saturday in August. Here is the info from last year. Another Hell Survivor's First! It was of the hook fun!

These are awesome i wish my local field would host a game where we could use them. I made a nerf rocket launcher and they told me i couldn't use it...pisses me off

Our home field went to the no home made launcher rule just recently. A few bad one's spoil it for everyone. Insurance companies just don't want em on the field. One of my team mates has been running his home made launcher for years, and it has kinda become is signature. Oh well he's adapting well to the havok we gave him.

I think if you could find one of the old plexiglass JT reff shields would be really good for it.

Homemade anything launcher is just a really, really, really bad idea for fields. Talk about a liability.
And shields? Really?

we just had shields in our STAR WARS game we produced at On Target Paintball (pemberton, nj ) the JEDI and Sith used them and could only be killed with a LAW shot, or head shot...needless to say it is NOT for the faint of hart being lit up like that...but it can add more challenges to scenarios...we now have 4 shields for the team

I played at a field with riot shields, it made some games way too easy of you had one. Another field I play at the flag is a briefcase that you can kinda use as a shield
