just tried the poly 15's I got from theoringstore.com they fit a lot better than the 15's I got from mcmastercarr. it's essentially a tank oring *white-ish* I havent aired up yet so I cant tell if it seals, but there's no movement of the bolt inside the keg like there was with my previous batch. Just sliding the bolt back and forth with my hand..I felt the difference between that and the viton 16 I just took off of the switch.

mark I can also send you a couple of each to play with also if interested.

did someone say stickers??? lol

The poly's aren't the cheapest things in the world, you definitely don't have to go out of your way for me like that as I don't mind ordering some more to try myself. I mean if you have a couple burning a hole in your pocket then I certainly won't say no, but only if you have plenty of extras for yourself!

Am I missing something? I thought the vitons were ideal on the valve?

And also what color polys are people using? I was shipped black ones from mcmastercarr but whiteish/clear from theoringstore

too lazy to buy vitons. just started with polys. i usually dont even work on my GTs this much. i lube it and go. I blame the gun for being so smooth that i've gotten bored and started to tinker.

hell its better than getting a Geo3 to tinker with.

(oringstore sent me clear polys for both the 011 and 017)

Either vitons or polys are a good upgrade from stock on the valve. I am using polys now.

It has been confirmed in this thread that mcmaster sends black polys and theoringstore sends the clear/white ones.

the clear 015 polys had a larger OD than the black ones so it was able to seal where the black would just cause the bolt to float around the keg. I wonder if the same is true for the 017's? if im getting a good seal with the black 017 polys on the valve, would the clear be too tight because of the OD? I guess the same could be argued for the 011's on the powertube. In either case, would I be able to go a size down ie 016 clear poly on the valve and 010 clear on the powertube and see a drop in pressure?

I could just be speculating like a mofo.. still something to consider.

The valve and powertube aren't areas where you want the least amount of seal possible like with the bolt. Eric pointed out earlier that there should be a "good" seal on these areas so I wouldn't even attempt to put in one size smaller.

If the black ones have a good seal I would just leave those. I had to try a lot of the white/clear ones before I found some that I liked in there (the valve specifically). Some were a bit too tight, but I found some that fit a bit looser (but still snug) that I liked a lot better. I'm happy with the setup now for the powertube and valve.

thanks for clearing that up mark... im in no way planning on going a size down.. just thinking out loud. the black polys i have sealed well.. a tad on the tight side, but a little extra lube fixed that.

trying to teach myself the mechanics of the drivetrain.

I have 015 black polys from MCM on my switch right now and it seals. The only thing that kind of sucks but i dont mind is that when I air up my gun for the first time each day it wont seal until I manually push the bolt all the way back. Then it seals fine for the rest of the day as long as I dont degas my gun which isnt a problem....
I originally had the clear 015 polys from orings usa and I couldnt get a single one to seal....

So I just got my 016 vitons in. From mcm and I bought the brown, the mil spec and the a few of the extreme which are 90 duro. Any thoughts if the 90 duro is a good or bad thing in there.

I think mark said 90 duros dont create as good of a seal as a lower duro. They are good for areas that have high wear such as the bumper though....

Yeah he set me straight they are to hard and don't conform as well to create the seal you are looking for.
