Question Best Barrel kits out now?

I just bought a Clone GT and want to put the best barrel kit I can on it. I previously owned a Sly kit and was happy with it. The kits I am looking at are Sly, Stiffi Switch, Dye UL(4 piece) and Mac Dev Shift. I really hoped that Dye would sell the CF Boomstick in a kit but they don't and I'm not going to spend $150+/ea on 3 barrels to get the different bore sizes. Are there any top end kits I am missing and what would be my best bet on those listed? Not a big fan of the freak kit.

Stiffi Switch Kits aren't so easy to find anymore with cocker threads...

Sly Pro-Merc with the bore extension kit is pretty decent, and pretty good looking.

I never had any luck with Dye UL's, CFBoomers though, I've had much better luck with.

I would look at Furious Lotus, and Deadlywind. These are the lightest, quietest kits I've used to date.

the shift kit works really well. but if you are looking for alot of bore options, the freak kit would be your best bet. or Super Freak kit.

So the Dye 4 piece kit is just so-so? It's by far the most expensive at $250 so I thought it should be pretty awesome. What kits come with stainless steel inserts? I have been reading that those are the best inserts to use because they can be machined to the finest tolerances. I know the CF Dye Boomstick has a stainless steel insert.

CFboomer has a SS bore, but we're referring to Freak Inserts. Can be used in a standard freak kit or a Deadlywind

I been using my empire sniper kit and my 12' Stiffi .685 barrel and I added a python kit with it and it becomes a 14' barrel and I have inserts. WORKS AMAZING!!!

Both super quiet on my AXE and Ego

Look into the Disruptive Balance or Death Touch barrel kit. The shift kit is pretty nice though too and it was designed to go on the Clone.

So I'm leaning towards the DeadlyWind with the stainless steel freak inserts. The only other setup I'm still wondering about is the Dye Ultralight 4 piece kit. The Deadlywind with SS inserts is gonna come to about $220.00. The Dye is $250.00. Does anyone have any experience with the Dye 4 piece kit? I haven't heard anything about it yet.

I have a full set of UL backs. I'd get the Deadlywind if I were you as the Dye kit is mostly medium-large bore wise. .680, .684, .688, .692. The 88 and 92 are too big for most paint so for $250 you're getting 2 usable bore. Not worth it.

I also wouldn't even get the full set of SS inserts, you really don't need to be that precise ball matching and you can save some money just getting 3 or 4 inserts to cover the whole range (I'd go .679, .682, .684, .686 or so, maybe a .688 or .689 if I lived somewhere humid).

The deadly wind with as freak inserts is by far my favorite kit I've used. Only reason to go for the ul kit is if you shoot larger paint

There is no performance gain from SS inserts only the added weight. Stay with the alum inserts (lower cost) and DW barrel.

Correct, they are just stronger and won't dent as easily. On mcarterbrown there is a guy that makes brass inserts

The larger bore inserts are very thin, if you run bore inserts .684 and smaller, they have thicker walls. Just handle the larger bore inserts with more care.
