NEIC Class A 2012-2013 Discussion thread
Well, it seems that I am co-ordinating the NEIC again this year so first things first is to see who is available to play.
I will kick off and say Rutgers is definitely playing.

what fields are we thinking, i know at this moment Top-gun OXCC and PAP would be able to hold an event at the drop of a dime. What fields do we have up north other than Fox4, Dave does a great job might i add.
Guys also we are waiting on word if there will be a MACC on to decide what conference we will be in.

Depending on which schools it will likely be some mix of the following:
-Matt's
-LongLive Paintball (Turf)
-Top Gun
-OXCC
If there are 5 schools then we might come up with some kind of hybrid schedule so no one is driving more than 3 hours but you might play all your matches over two events.

While we (Fox 4) would be very open to the idea of holding an event here we also fully realize that the location of our field is not ideal for some of the participants in the league (Temple, Rutgers & Army).
We understand if the league decides to hold the events elsewhere.

My general advice to field owners is that having lots of college teams in your area is a good thing:
-they generally play all year round as their schedule is the opposite of the national tournaments (Sep - April) plus they practice over the summer
-college players generally make good staff e.g. refs/scorekeepers
Plus, college events are considered to be the easiest to run as all the scheduling is done by the NCPA and sportsmanship at college events is second to none.
All of that being said, it would help the NCPA a lot if field owners could reach out to local schools and see if they can offer assistance in getting clubs/teams started. That ends up being a win/win for everyone.
Plus, we can finally have a Class A event at Fox if there are more teams!

Is there anyway we can get a tentative schedule/ some dates to base the season off of? The department that basically runs our club needs dates from us soon. Much appreciated.

This please.
Also Temple wouldn't mind traveling up north for an event if the other teams in our conference would be willing to make the trip down. Or just to pick a field that is equally close to everyone (in a perfect world )

Historically?
1. Early October;
2. End Oct.-Early Nov. before daylight becomes an issue
3. Pre Nat'ls Warm-Up
-or-
1. Mid-Late Oct (Halloween hopefully not)
2. February-Early March-ish (Spring breaks become issues here)
3. Nat'ls Warm Up
-or-
The cluster**** that was last year's season.
Scheduling is going to be a combined effort from all schools. Alex needs to compile the list of schools in the conference, and then get information regarding weekends that work and don't work for each school (generally from their respective officers), and use that to create a schedule that is agreeable for all parties, including the hosting field. So the sooner schools confirm their participation in Class A NEIC, the sooner dates can be submitted and schedules can come out.
I know this isn't your first rodeo for many who are reading, but I feel it's good to put into perspective the tedious nature of work Alex has to do for us, and for which officers are also responsible. This may seem like a catch-22 for those schools looking for schedules before budgets are finalized and so on and so forth before submitting Class A bids, but it's on the officers to communicate the tentative nature of event scheduling to their rec departments. Ultimately the responsibility is on everyone to confirm and commit in as timely a manner as possible so that events can be planned smoothly and with the least hassle for all involved.
But honestly, it's late. I'm graduated and contributing vicariously by writing long narrative posts since I never post anymore. That's the real reason I'm here.
tl:dr- I'm bored.

Haven't either the NEIC or MACC combined Events 2 and 3 in the spring for a Sat./Sun. event? Did it work?

srs. I think NU is the only team promoted to Class A recently in the NEIC that's made it more than 1 season.

Anyways, getting back on topic... Any weekends besides Thanksgiving week (week long break for UConn) would be ideal for UConn for Events 1/2, as far as I know. The sooner, the better, so we can figure out for travel, if we need to plan according. By the way, if any other NEIC team captains/presidents are not in the private Facebook thread, let me know and I can add you so we can get scheduling figured out as soon as possible.

In an attempt to get the dates back on track, UConn has Thanksgiving recess from Nov. 18th - 24th, and Spring recess from Mar. 17th-23rd
