09 impulse bolt ?'s
just picked up an impy to add to my collection and had a few questions. are there any aftermarket bolts floating around (did a search on the forums that turned up nothing) that i could pick up? or is it possible to either drop in or modify, say, an ego bolt to use? The bolt i have is stock, but it looks like at some point somebody tried to shave away the top section of the bolt to make it look almost like a cure bolt does (i can provide pics so there's some kind of frame of reference). whether or not it has any effect on stack clipping is beyond me but it looks sloppy and would rather just drop in something better if i can.
::edit::
Sorry about the crappy cell pics. But here's my bolt. In addition to the cuts on the front, you can see it looks like somebody tried to make slots down the side of the bolt for the detents. It's pretty chewed up down the length of the bolt.

To my knowledge, there were no aftermarket bolts for the 09. Your best bet for another one is to contact Gog and see if they've got any.

thanks pandem1c! i'll post up some pics of my bolt, it's in pretty rough shape. i haven't taken my imp to the field yet, but i've put two hoppers thru it and it shot well enough. no chops or breaks, but just want a second opinion on whether or not i should replace it.

i remember these "mods" the cuts on the sides are to minimize wear on the detents, and the top cut is to minimize ball stack clipping
maybe you should send it to someone who has a mill to clean it up, the mods work, just whoever did them to this bolt was an idiot and had a dremel

haha, almost exactly like mine! I shot it last weekend and put some paint thru it in the back yard. had a barrel break once or twice the whole time. i think i'm going to wind up springing for a new bolt. also might have to replace the upper section as well. some do-it-yourselfer apparently snapped the feedneck at some point and just threw some liquid cement in it to hold it in place. my gun needs a lot of love

thats an old one so it wont work in the 09s.
i will take a look at all the bolts i have at home and see if anything will line up. guessing not but worth a check.

i have a bunch I will see if any are close. as long as the pin and valve hole line up you could chop the face down...

if anyone really needs a bolt call gog. the entire bolt assembly is $25. i ended replacing the upper body, feedneck, eyes, bolt, and got an o-ring kit for $105.

I'm wondering what he'll do, since the Impy has two breech o-rings, and the bolt has that rear o-ring, effectively sealing the bolt like Pooty's bolts do for guns that don't have o-rings on the inside of the breech. Just adding o-rings to the bolt seems pointless (you'd have o-rings trying to pass other o-rings), and if he's removing material for less breech wear, he'd have to make sure to leave material in the right spots or the o-rings in the breech would be rendered pointless.

In that case, I'm interested to see how it works out. If the price is decent, I may consider it myself.

doubt there would be much difference. shouldnt do anything really. no weight to remove. shouldnt really reduce drag since it rides on the orings already.
