So I've always seen videos of pros in paintball getting hit by like 20 paintballs close up. They try to protect themselves but hardly tense up when getting drilled. Recently I was shot close up by a rental gun (chronoed in the 280s probably) and ripped two holes in my body leaving me with a permanent scar on my chest. I just don't see how the pros can constantly live with that. I know they have very small padding on jersey but does that really help? Or are they wearing cardboard suits underneath? Just wondering

Pros wear elbow pads, knee pads, and sometimes even chest padding to both protect themselves from paint and help with diving/sliding. Head protection for them includes sandana/headbands. Hand protection is basically just gloves. The jersey and pants should provide enough protection to where the user isn't being scarred from being shot. I don't know what caused you to get that scar on your chest but I've never seen anything like that in person.

Is chest padding legal? I was told it wasn't but if it is i totally see how they take it

There are rules for chest padding, but I don't know the full rules.

Besides, you get used to the shots after awhile. When I first started playing, I had to hold back whining about 1 shot, now if I get shot 5 times in different places, I just don't even care. Unless I get hit more than that. That's when I get pissed.

Mocking is right, you just get used to getting hit after a while.

Just takes some time getting used to it. last time I played I got hit over 10 times without a single break. Last five were when I got shot from about 15 feet away by a rental and only got one bad bruise and that was on my arm, broke the skin actually. only padding I had were the builtin knee pads. jersey was some old one and had no padding. Could have gone on but no way to hit the guy without getting lit up by the time I could turn and shoot him.

Most of the pros I used to play with had paintball pants, jersey, knee, and elbow pads. Pads aren't necessary but they help a lot when you're sliding around on the field. Make sure your jersey is baggy as it slows down paintballs slightly. most jerseys have builtin padding around the arms and shoulders now as well, nothing major but helps a bit.
