Just played a walk-on day with a pump.

omg, Im a speedball player, and I am actually liking pump.

Saves you money!
Less things to worry about like, marker programming, and batteries.

I'm not a great shot, so in speedball, yeah, I waste a lot of shots.
same goes with pump, but obviously, I don't waste as many paintballs.

Because I'm not able to shoot so much, I don't have to fill up on air as often.

1 night of walk-ons with a speedball marker= 1500+ paintballs
1 night of walk-ons with a pump marker = <600 paintballs

Pump is a new experience to me, and I like it, I still need to learn about how a pump works tho. So if anyone can offer some info on the differences between pumps and speedball, I'd love to hear it.

from what I heard, pumps don't use detents? so the ball is basically being held by the barrel?

no pumps (most) still use detents.

You can still use pumps on the speedball field, I did last week. Besides the playing cost being reduce, the fundamental skills will improve by playing pump. You will be choosing your shots to hit your target with less paint.

Welcome to the dark side!

Glad you like pump. Keep in mind you will probably get your butt handed to you for the first little while as you learn your new gun and new skills. But once you get passed that learning curve, you will find your general skills will be much improved.

Play speedball like normal, just pick your shots and move more!

If you can watch the seasoned pump players they can be helpful and you'll learn a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it. And WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE.

Pump makes you play smarter and more efficiently. Don't be surprised to see a huge increase in the quality of your game and efficiency in your shots over the course of the rest of the season.

Welcome to the Dark Side.

Let's be clear here: Most pumps have detents to stop double feeds but once the ball is in the gun, in front of the bolt, only the barrel (or possibly a detent ring) is holding it in place. So you're both right.

Glad pump is panning out for you! Try hitting the speedball field with a pump and get your snapping game upgraded!

Welcome to pump. Wait till you discover Auto Trigger. You'll wonder why you ever needed a battery. Then again - one shot is all you need. I suggest training by yourself in a safe place. Pick a target (tree) and try to hit it while running at different angles - with 1 shot. Eventually you'll hit it every time in the same place. There are numerous benefits besides no batteries, less air, less paint, less weight, less failure. Its an opportunity to have 100% American Made whether you go CCI, CCM or a Vintage Sheridan. Love my CCI Phantom.
