Good advice too. Budget and buy used. For gear don' t forget the power of the trade, some baller right now is tired of his gear or broke. If you have followed the first piece of advice then when stuff comes up cheap or for trade with cash.... Deals can be made.

Biggest thing is get in good with a field. Offer to volunteer ref when you have the time. I reffed at a field where in return for reffing you got free entry, air, field fees and discounts on paint. Field owners are going to be your biggest helpers.

Learn to manage your finances and work smart.

Just from my personal interests, I learned enough about marker, car adn computer maintenance. From that alone I make enough to sustain myself.

But I also work at the school cafeteria and a small time sales shtick on the side.

That makes money as well.

Whenever you see something interesting, think of how you can make money off it and get to it. You'll be surprised at how much you can make.

I found that working at the paintball field usually earns you about minimum wage if not less not to mention you lose your entire weekends. Unless that is what you want to do I'd just get a good job and pay to play. You can expect to spend about a car payment per month on paintball and that is just to get somewhat good at it. The bottom line; paintball is very expensive. But hell what isn’t fun and not expensive now days. If you can’t get a good amount of money or sponsorship together you may not want to get in to paintball. Try Texas hold’em at your local pizza joint instead. It’s both fun and fills your belly. I also hear that Obama will pay for your paint if you vote for him... Just sayin...

Unfortunately if you are just starting to play it can be really expensive. There is a couple of thing you can do. Either practice with a hopper. But your best bet is to just bite the bullet and practice practice practice. If you can get good you can get a sponsor. Even a sponsor that pays half your paint really helps.
