few more questions about OK DDAY
hey guys!! sorry, i just have a few more questions about OK DDAY, i think that previous atendees can help me out here.......
how does the whole ranking system work? do you have to obey the commands of upper ranks? and how do you get promoted? also, in units, are there like seperate squads that split up and talk via radio?
sorry if i sound like a clueless idiot, i just want to be prepared going into OK DDAY next year.....

If your new to the event then you will be at the bottom of the "rank system" also it does help if you listen to those higher ranking than you. Those with a higher rank have more than likely been to D-day many years in a row.
Each division has many squads and yes they do break apart from the main group. Radios help out quite a bit.

Shooting your teammates will probably result in return fire by many other's.

I'm not saying its safe but it will make the game interesting. I've been tempted to shoot d-bags on my team before. I've done it once after he couldn't tell we were on the same team and shot me the two games before.

I cannot speak for all units... but my unit always has a structure in place with officers, companies, platoons, and squads. Radio communications are highly stressed as we have a dedicated radio guy who makes sure our comms are up to par.
As for officers, we do have them, but all our guys know what our objectives are so that each guy can get the job done. You do not exactly "obey" your officers, but you should listen to them as they are well seasoned. But some guys who have been there for awhile take their jobs way too seriously.
The whole goal is to have fun... and beat the hell out of the opposition. So long as you have fun, then the game is worth it.

I use a bluetooth earpiece and run my cell phone as a conference room. It's easy to answer or I stay connected to a conference number with 4 of us so we can comminicate to each other. I just keep the line muted unless I have questions about my order (which side of a hill do you want us to proceed to the top???)
I'm just kidding about going rogue, however it does cross my mind from time to time.

Haha I have only gone rogue once. And that was one of my teammates that just would not move. He sat behind a bunker for at least 10 minutes and barely got off any shots. Just taking up field space. After telling him to do something multiple times I shot him in the back of the head. Didn't feel bad about it at all.
