Also to go along with that I would be getting a promotion and a 2dollar raise. I was told it was because of the health care laws that are in place. But that means all my buddies in the kitchen will be going to part time and getting their hours cut. Just the thought of them bettering me and cutting my friends hours sucks. They also don't know right now that their hours will be cut. One just had a kid. They are going to be telling everyone at the holiday party on Sunday.
Long story short, I was picked as one of the best cooks we have and im getting a promotion, but on the flip side, all my buddies will be looking for new jobs and leaving. God damnit.
This is called life and simply, some people do a better job and are a better fit than others. This is not the last time this will happen in life. You should be proud of yourself for proving to be one of the best. I have lost two jobs and each of those jobs I lost ended up being one of the best things to happen to me. I was able to go to a competitor in the same industry and get a raise and a promotion both times. If your friends are hard workers they will be able to get another job and be just as well off, if not more than they were before.
Also, not to get all political but saying a move is based on something the Government did to a company is a lie. You cannot tax a company in any way, the company simply passes on the cost to the consumer. If your bosses do not understand this then they do not understand business. It all gets rolled up into operational overhead.
