Why would you say that? How else would they see if you actually learned the information?

Passing a final is far from a true measure of whether you learned the information or not...

Have any of you had like a final project that was your final? For a history class my final was timeline of the stuff we studied and information about the topics. I thought that was a great idea because it let people use resources they had every day and it covered what you learned.

Final projects or hands on finals that actually apply what you were supposed to learn rather than test how much you can remember from cramming in the form of multiple guess exams.

I agree with this, but then again, how do youre professors know you did it? Im just playing the devils advocate here, I can see both sides of it.

I see your point. The view I see in my head is some kind of hands on final administered under direction of the professor to demonstrate mastery of knowledge. This cannot be done with all classes but for most you can apply some kind of practical mastery of the subject in the way it will be used in your future career.

I'm a tech major and basically all my finals are hands on and it is ok for us to help each other out a lot of the time because in our careers we will be working with others as a team to implent new systems/update old systems/fix broken systems etc

So Today I was brought into the manager office thinking I was going to get fired because of all the hiring we have been doing. But instead, I was told that we could only have 3 full time people in the kitchen. I was picked as one of the three to keep my hours. Also to go along with that I would be getting a promotion and a 2dollar raise. I was told it was because of the health care laws that are in place. But that means all my buddies in the kitchen will be going to part time and getting their hours cut. Just the thought of them bettering me and cutting my friends hours sucks. They also don't know right now that their hours will be cut. One just had a kid. They are going to be telling everyone at the holiday party on Sunday.

Long story short, I was picked as one of the best cooks we have and im getting a promotion, but on the flip side, all my buddies will be looking for new jobs and leaving. God damnit.

This is called life and simply, some people do a better job and are a better fit than others. This is not the last time this will happen in life. You should be proud of yourself for proving to be one of the best. I have lost two jobs and each of those jobs I lost ended up being one of the best things to happen to me. I was able to go to a competitor in the same industry and get a raise and a promotion both times. If your friends are hard workers they will be able to get another job and be just as well off, if not more than they were before.

Also, not to get all political but saying a move is based on something the Government did to a company is a lie. You cannot tax a company in any way, the company simply passes on the cost to the consumer. If your bosses do not understand this then they do not understand business. It all gets rolled up into operational overhead.

Like I'm happy with my raise but sad. Like the guy losing hours trained me in. So it's like Xsv and dynasty. The Xsv guys might have trained dynasty but the dynasty kids won more. It's just hard I guess and that's life.
