Stripped screw removal

I have a damaged NXT eye cover screw that needs removal. I believe it's been cross threaded and rounded out. I'm looking for any mill masters who can help me out. I can PM more details if you're interested.

Not sure of ot will damage the threads, but if you have a slightly bigger star bit you could tap it in with a hammer to get it stuck in the eye cover. I've used this method to permantly fix screws before.

I had acidrain pull a rounded out, loctited screw out for me a while back. You could probably send it to him if you are stumped.

Might try this. It's under the NXT cover, which makes it hard to get at. If it was just a normal exposed screw, then it would be easier. The hole in the cover is just larger than the Allen key diameter, so I'm thinking that will have to be enlarged first.

You won't need to enlarge the hole. I have removed many screws with a screw extractor and/or left hand twist drill mounted in a reversible drill press or mill. I have done it with a hand drill once or twice also.

You can also try a metric allen key. It is a long shot if it is in tight.

I have heard of people having sucess gluing an allen key into a stripped out screw and being able to remove it.

Depending on how far you have it torn apart if you heat the body up in hot water it will cause the aluminum to expand more that the screw. Also a third recommendation for left handed drill bit.
