Where to pick up young kid playing gear

I really don't wanna buy my son new gear to start out with cause I'm nit for sure if he is going to stick with the sport. But if it comes to it where could I find gear his size. Not sure what size he needs I'm a dad and his mom takes him clothes shopping. He is 11 proably about 4'6" and roughly 90lbs. He's pretty tall but as skinny as a bean pole. Thanks for any help and advice.

I've seen a lot of younger players in dirtbike/ motorcross pants. Probably because they're available in small sizes and I'm 5'7" 125lbs and I wear size S or XS proto paintball pants and they're perfect length wise.

I see the sizing more of a waist change than length but I could be wrong.

take him in normal clothes until he is sure he likes it and continues playing
(t-shirt, jeans or some other pants. ect.)
