Phenom Minimalist vs Crossover

So I have a Tippmann 98 custom that I love dearly, but the 5,000 lbs it weighs can get annoying sometimes. I was thinking about picking up a Engler Minimalist or a Tippmann Crossover and am wondering the general opinions around the community here

Thanks guys

phenom minimalist, 3 lbs

Crossover 2.3 lbs

depends do you find yourself aiming downsight alot, if so id go with the phenom

if not go with the crossover, youd have to buy a electic loader (HALO, Fasta, some other 15bps+ hopper to keep up)
If your leaning toward the cross over look at some other guns in that price range or some used older ego'd or DM's

my intention is to stick with something that can be switched between mechanical fire and electronic, my limited knowledge of any gun not tippmann prevents me from knowing if there are other guns like that.

As well I was planning on picking up a Dye Rotor if I did in fact go with the Crossfire.

Lastly, I should have mentioned this up top, but I want a gun that can go from woodsball to speedball without a problem. I know the Crossfire isnt a horrible speedball marker, just from talking to people who do use it but I haven't talked to any speedballer that has tried a Minimalist Phenom, so I didn't know if anyone had any thoughts on that?

Both the Phenom Electro (Minimalist is Electro) and the Crossover can be shot in both mechanical and electronic.

Both markers can convert to woodsball to speedball no problem. What you really need to decide is whether or not you want your hopper in the center or one set off to the right.

Did someone mention my name? LOL

One thing you need to look at when comparing the two is the trigger. I personally do not like the crossover trigger. (I am a standard trigger type of shooter).

DT29, when it comes time, no matter what gun you get hit me up and I'll make sure you are well taken care of. I try and help out PBN members when ever possible.

Also what other company can you send an email to where the owner (who is also a player) emails you back directly?

Cheers!

I went with the engler gun although he hasnt sent it to me yet

but the idea of not having to buy any batteries was hugely appealing, and I like the single trigger more

DT29, I don't know of any other current production markers other than the Tippmanns that you can switch between mechanical and electronic. If memory serves me right there was one from PCS (Pursuit Combat Systems) that had the ability to be switched between mechanical and electronic, but I think it was a quick change grip frame rather than one single grip frame that can do both.

For the crossover vs other guns i would say its up to if you want that extra mechanical mode or extra 400 shots off a 68/45

Spectre, I did not know that about the E-mag. Also I thought that AGD was no longer producing E-mags. I was under the impression that Smart Parts put a stop to their production. Did the SP bankruptcy and following sell-off of their intellectual property (mainly the patents) allow AGD to produce the E-mag again?

Been using the Crossover now since it came out, trigger does take some getting use to as Eric said (if you get one take out the spring for it, makes it a lot nicer). But other than that I love it, have had no problems with it. Fast, no breaks, pretty easy to set up and change firing modes and the ability to switch to battery mode on the fly is great.
