Not really a new player but didn't really know where else to post this
I've always only played pump and have been looking to pick up a cheap mid-end semi before i go away to college (so i don't really know my way around electros except for rudimentary skills in helping people tweak their markers as a ref). There's a guy who's willing to sell me a DP G3 for 80 bucks in great condition... o-rings, internals, new eyes, etc. The only problem with this marker is that i think he bought it with a virtue board (didn't come with stock) which fried very recently. I'm looking at 2 options - just wondering your guys two cents on this topic.

First, because I know that Virtue has a lifetime guarantee on their boards, but because I'm not the original buyer(and thus have no receipt), is there any way for me to get the board replaced/tech'd by virtue under warranty?

The second option I'm considering is to just grab a Seventh Element board (because they're only $35 right now at Compulsive). Stock trigger on the gun as far as I know though, and I can't afford to replace the trigger right now with the whole college process and such right now... So for this option, I was wondering if there's any way to mod the existing trigger to make it compatible with the distance to the microswitch on the Seventh Element board (longer/shorter set screws, some sort of extension of the internal part of the trigger, etc?)

7th element boards are great for the price but they lack 13.3 bps settings or 12.5 so your missing a slight bit in competion but if your ok with that i'd say 80 and 35 is a great deal for a g3

problem is 7th element boards arent compatible w/ stock trigger from what i hear. the microswitch is supposed to be too far away. I'm just not able to put out the extra 30 bucks for a CP trigger right now

ahh thats true its been awhile since i've had my g3

if it is going to be a problem like this you might want to pass and save up some money to buy something a little better down the road you might end up throwing in another $60 into a G3 that already cost you $80 and if you would save up a little more you could get a much better gun for like $200 just my $.02

I like the APE board much better than the 7e, there seem to be a lot of issues with bad solder points on the 7e's, APE boards can be found on PBN for around $35 used

Spending money over a period of time isnt as big of a deal for me as it is paying it all upfront; i'll probably end up trading & adding up in the future, but im hoping i won't need to spend as much maintaining an electro because pump is still gonna be my primary play style.

sounds good but just one of my preferences is to only buy used local so that i can actually see/feel it in person


Anyone know about the virtue warranty or the trigger mod though?

from what i hear virtue will replace the board for free, their customer service is great

sorry for all this trouble but i just looked at it and picked it up aaaaaand..... he found a stock board somewhere for it
so i ended up getting a fully functional g3 for 80 bucks

First and best upgrade for that marker is an aftermarket bolt. There are a couple new ones in the works even. Check the DP forums for more info on that stuff

I say go get your own virtue board and so next time if you ever have problems with it it would be under warrenty.

Its called an APE board. It is the best board on the market right now for the G3 and it will work with the stock trigger.

I currently own a 7th element and ape board, both for dp markers. The APE is better bang for the buck. It will do any ball speed. you want to do 11.3bps? It will do that. You want 23.7bps? It will do that too. IT is very adjustable

board doesn't really matter to me right now... i hate the stock board because it's optical, but i hate the stock trigger even more.... and all that i really need for a board mode right now is just a semi capped at anywhere over 10bps because this marker is only for when i get frustrated with pump play in speedball
